Correct Replacement Oil Filter
nobadrivers
This oil filter adapter and filter are on my 1951 Super that I just purchased. Can anyone tell me anything about it? Filter adapter kits I see from the current parts suppliers online appear to be different than this? Are filters available for this type that I have? I haven't taken it off yet and don't want to purchase just any filter worrying about it being equipped with a drain-back check valve that could block oil flow. I would appreciate any input.

You may use shim stock.

Or was it really just 2 Crosley CIBA's? Maybe not... I really love this modified Cros, a marriage that was made to be.

I ordered a reamer and bushing kit on eBay. I’m going to give that a try. I used to use those kits many years ago. However I do have a Tillotson carb on a 50 Crosley wagon that I might throw on the Hot Shot for now and try it while I’m waiting to fix the Carter.

A temporary fix might be to pack the gap with some thick old fashioned axle grease to seal the leak. You would have to reapply every now and then when the gas fumes dissolve the grease.

Some may disagree with me, however I suggest changing the carb to a Tillotson. Once they are properly set, they keep working, trouble free.

Hi,
My 51 Crosley with the Carter WO carburetor has a wicked vacuum leak at the end of the throttle shaft in the base of the carburetor. Can't keep the car running stalls at idle. Has anyone had any luck reaming the throttle shaft bores and installing brass bushings? Is this common with these? Thanks, Glenn

Re: Exhaust
I have 1&1/2 put on all mine and yes it helps a lot. By straight thru I assume you intend a muffler too ? I'd use at least a resonator, otherwise the sound is a bit rough.

Does it pay to enlarge exhaust from stock size to 1.5 inches straight thru will there be a noticeable increase in power?

Michael, You can also get those panels from Yankee Crosley Parts. He has a nice set of originals to trace and cut new ones.

Are there going to be any Crosley parts venders at Macungie this weekend? I need interior panels and a headliner for a CC Pick Up.

Re: special engine tool

I did the manifold nuts the old fashion way. I used an open end wrench, moved it a fraction of an inch, then flipped the wrench, and moved it a fraction, then flipped the wrench and moved it a fraction, ........ you get the picture. When I reinstall them, I will have built, ground, bent, a special wrench for them.

I believe they were the super sport doors that Dave Anspach took home.
