Jim - I just voted in your hubcap poll but didn't see any place to put a number. I have 7 of the high dome with arrow (4 old and 3 repros) Rich Helm

Got it complete with a bunch of new parts extra quarters front fenders another engine, frame new stainless gas tank, extra rebuilt tranny done by Butch. Plus the chassis has already been restored everything replaced or rebuilt It was only 10 miles from house. Also has a clear Indiana title. Gave 2500 for it. The man that had it was in the club but he has retired and moved to Florida, didn’t want to take it with him. It is a 49.

Post War Hubcap Poll
#poll
The question comes up often about the different styles of Crosley hubcaps, so I decided to try the poll feature of Groups.io and see how many of the different styles are around. Generally there are 2 main types High Dome and Flat or low done, the consensus is that Crosley switched because the High Dome stuck out beyond the tire and hit the curbs making a circular rash mark on the cap. High Dome seems to be on most/all pre 1949 Crosleys but do show up in pictures of 49 and newer plus the painted FarmOroad caps were High Dome. We know Crosley did not want to waste anything so probably used left over stock for whatever in later production, maybe even as a dealer option. Both High Dome and Flat came in two styles, with an arrow through Crosley and with a simple line. If there are other styles of post war hubcaps besides the Crosmobile variant let me know. I would like to know how many of each type you of you have and already see the problem with the poll, it only allows you to pick an answer not give a number. So give the number of each you have on cars and parts stash in your reply and select the one you have the most of in the poll. If you have roughly the same number in two or more styles you can vote for more than one. I will total them up in the future and report the results. Jim...

Re: CC hood
Kenn Cahill
There are also two small rectangular sponge rubber pieces that go between the back of the hood and the frame attached to the hinges.they help support the back of the hood.

There are 4 rubber bumbers, two in front of the radiator and one on each fender.

Are there rubber bumpers that support the hood on 47 CC. If so where would they be or is there just an air gap hood too fenders eat.

Re: Oil out the exhaust pipe
NA NA
I have all ready put Sea Foam in the oil and gas and it has the right amount of oil in it so far no change. The sad part is the engine runs great starts easy.I was hoping they would free up cause the car was stored for a while. I guess it is time to get price on a rebuild.

Re: Oil out the exhaust pipe
Besides rings it may be the valve stem seals. If it is stem seals the smoke usually partially clears up after the engine runs for a short time. If it is just stuck rings and not worn or broke rings running some Marvel mystery oil or Sea Foam mixed with the gas might loosen the rings up.

It might be too simple, make sure you do not have too much oil in the crank case. Two quarts only !

Hi Don't have a cure for your oil challenge. Just remembering in the past had a Crosley engine that ran fine. When I took the engine apart the rings were broken into dozens of pieces! Rings may not be the cause. Don
