Re: Sold: 1951 Super Sports - NM-MN-IA - $7000

The car is original with the exception of some motor parts that were cleaned or replaced. Ie. Carborator. It is yellow creme colored with a red interior. It has a top but it needs repair. I have the frame. It has 23,000 miles. It was stored for 18 years before we bought it. About 3 years ago.. it was driven from storage to our garage. It does not have rust.

Jim, I feel bad for that guy trying to sell his '51 SS It looks like it is a fine car from the pictures. I was NOT one who made a stupid offer. I emailed, without making an offer, asking for more information. Never got a reply.

Re: Sold: 1951 Super Sports - NM-MN-IA - $7000
Apparently enough of you have insulted him with ridiculous offers, for what looks like a nice SS, he has changed his mind and says the price is a firm $7000 now. I have edited the original ad to reflect that. Jim...

Barry, are you still building motors? I found a 1955 army generator/aerojet/fageol and it needs your TLC! Gary McFarlane Sent from my iPad

Surely, a piece of Neoprene gasket material with a similar cross section as the rope gasket can be found to substitute the leak prone rope? Sent from my I-thing

Tim, I would replace the lower end! With a late model crankcase, and crank. That crankcase will have rope seals, and a cast Iiron crank. Garanteed to leak oil like an old Detroit diesel. Barry

There are 2 types of front crank seals-(Late Style) and (Rope Style) Sounds like you need the rope style seal.

Oil pan gaskets, some cork , some ???
The gasket set that came with the Project car has cork gaskets for front and rear of pan. The rear one is fine but the front one will not work. The pan has a sort of V shaped area in it for a seal. Since the gasket set did not come with this, what is it, what do I call it and where do I get it ?

This topic comes up every year or so. Here is a thread that had some suggestions on adding a pan breather if you don't want to swap crankcases. https://groups.io/g/Crosley-Gang/topic/oil_filler/4096566?p=Created,,,20,1,0,0 Jim...

Re: No crankcase breather tube on the Youth Project car
I'm not real keen on the only crankcase vent being on the very top of the motor which will gather a lot of grease and dirt. I wish there was a way to add a blow by tube somewhere.

Re: Auction: VanDerBrink Auction - July 14-16 - Norwalk, Ohio
L.E. Hardee
I noticed that the HotShot does not have any side vents. My 1949 HotShot has the smaller vents to the engine compartment which was a carry over from the CC fender design retooled by the factory, while my 1952 SuperSports has the larger vents into the passenger compartment. (my 49 HotShot even has the closed off vent holes visible from the inside on the rear fenders) Anyone know the time frame where the VC models had no side vents?

The number will be below the distributor on a flat, and yes I think you hit the snake on the head...

Re: No crankcase breather tube on the Youth Project car
Fred, is that on the driver side on the small flat milled out spot ? I'm guessing the motor has been changed out and the lower end is from a Cobra.
