Welcome to Fiona’s County Down Genealogy (FCDG) Group! CountyDownGenealogy@groups.io
The original FCDG Group was formed in 2008 by the late Fiona Doyle Jones to assist people who are researching their Irish heritage in Co. Down, Northern Ireland.
Whether you are just starting out or an experienced family historian, the FCDG Group has something for everyone. We provide a friendly setting where members can post queries or exchange information, share stories or offer advice. Learn about the many genealogical resources that are available to help you track down that elusive family member. Keep up-to-date with the latest online databases.
While our focus is on Co. Down, we set no borders. Whether by choice or by circumstance, our Irish forbears moved around - sometimes travelling great distances from their place of birth. So members are free to discuss their ancestors no matter where they may have ended up… be it in neighboring Belfast, nearby Co. Armagh, or on the other side of the world. However... Please ensure that you specify your genealogical connection to County Down when you receive the email from us acknowledging your request for membership in the Group... Otherwise, your application will be denied .
