Thanks - that worked perfectly

Re: Gedcom Export

To Sue Horsman

You could have to first select the "Family of" and pick either the husband or wife, and then pick the option to De-Select and then change to "Individual only" using F8 and then pick the Family of  and pick each of the children.  That will remove the children and leave only the couple and the marriage date.

Is it possible to do a Gedcom export of just a husband and wife (excluding children) to pick up their marriage details?
Doing them as F8 and family, only extracts their individual data, and not marriage details

I sussed the compressed backup,  and John Steed explained where the Repositories were hiding.  I had them linked to a to do item.
Thanks to all for the advice

Yet again - you live and learn - Thanks John.  I didnt know that

Re: Word Search

To David Youse

I don't currently have it for FindAGrave, but for the events there is a way.  On Word Search, pick the top tab "Search for Blank Event" or else go to the report Lists, Missing Information report and pick any event field at the bottom right.

To Sue Horsman

Currently on Word Search you can find everyone with something in an event (F3) or everyone with that event blank, but not both at the same time.

Re: Word Search

In Word Search - Search Event / Blank Events,   there is the option for search events with Blank Fields,  or search events with a specific word in the text.  It would be good to have the facility to seach for anyone with an event (irrespective of what it contains - or is blank).

I think this may have been discussed in the past but I can't find it in my records.

When doing a word search, is there a way to search for an item that has no entry?

Specifically I'd like a way to find all records that DO NOT have an entry in the Find-A-Grave field?

This same concept would be useful in doing other searches.

My Grandma appears in BK as Mary Haley M. B. E., and BK's quite happy with that (it finds her if I search for Mary Haley, and so on).

She was Mary Weightman (her married name) when she got it, but I had to decide, and I keep everyone (I think all those affected in my data are females, but whatever) by the name they were born with. (Actually, I think I've only got one other name-changer with lettuce - my mother, who's in BK as Molly Weightman, B. A. [yes, including the comma].)

Even Windows XP could do it. But you might as well use BK's own. (When you close BK, select "Yes. Backup data files", after which one of the buttons is "Compress to ...". Another button lets you decide where to compress to.)

Re: Search Any Field cannot locate text

To Keith Dorey

Sometimes I add new features to the program, and not everything in other the reports gets updated at the same time.

The Word Search should find all words in Notes attached to the person, or Family Notes attached to the couple.

I will do some checking and see if I need to add Notes attached to a Picture in that search.

Thanks.

Hello all,

Using version 7.4.6.

I am using the "Any field" option of the "Word search report" with all options selected but it fails to locate the search term in the database.
Yet the search term is located in a Note that is attached to a image file on the picture grid for a person.

Is this option meant to find text from these attached notes or is there another option to perform a search of these notes?

Regards

Keith

Yes

Read the different options when you get there. One of them is compressed.

Does it need an 'Event' creating ?
