Looking good in H-alpha with some big prominences and filaments. Best I’ve seen in awhile. One prom looks like a dancing girl – to me anyway. See what you think. Roy

HI Mel. Mark here. I have a friend who may be interested in a mount like yours. I think it has two drives for tracking? He is in a place where Polaris is hard to find. Roy asks. Thanks Mel.

Observing Saturday April 22 does not look too promising weather wise. I'll make the go/ no go call by 3 (1500) Saturday.

Dowdy Park "Star Party" last night
We had a good night at Dowdy Park in Nags Head, NC last night. It wasn't exactly a "star party" we amateur astronomers are used to, but the party atmosphere and the friendly crowds made it a fun time.

I'm planning on going. The forecast for transparency/seeing is starting to look a little iffy according to Astropheric.com. If the forecast holds it won't be bad by 10pm.

Looks like a good night for it. I'll be down in North Carolina with Gabriel, Jeff G., George, and Jeff T. for the statewide star party. Have fun.

Can Minkowski 1-7 be observed with an 8" telescope

Last night I recorded what I thought was a good observation of Minkowski 1-7. It was where it was supposed to be, using an Ultrablock filter it behaved like I expect a planetary nebula to behave and a

Nice Prom – Solar Tornado?

Long skinny prom on the SE. limb that may be, or is becoming, another “solar tornado”. Kent found it at 1:30 pm, still there, maybe growing, now. On the opposite limb is a nice large fan-shaped prom.
