But what a good night. We started the night off by finding comet C2020 ZTF in Cepheus from Kent's front yard using his 16 inch. Kent violated the rule of not using two scopes at once as the 25 was set

The Sun today
There are several nice sunspot groups when viewed in white light. Christmas Day yielded a large, wide prominence in H-alpha light. Unfortunately, there is little left of it today, December 26.

Christmas comet correction
Make that a 4 inch scope not a three inch as stated for observing the comet. The Genesis is a super comet scope with a wide field and huge contrast. Only 54 inches but it's the contrast gets you over

Mars will be heading out the door soon.
Get in your observing now as Mars will start to exit the hotel soon. Currently;y it is at 16 arc seconds across but will rapidly shrink to 11 arc seconds by the end of January and then 8.5 by the end
