NGC1342 is a very nice open cluster in Perseus. It sort of reminds me of a scorpion - maybe a mini Scorpio. Cheers Ian NGC1342

Mars is pretty good tonight
Albedo features are quite easy to see tonight as Mars gets high in the sky. The Hellas basin and Mare Tyrrenium are easily seen as is Syrtis Major. I am using my 80mm F10 with a Takahashi 3.3 TOE eyep

Well almost
Clouds got in the way of the quest for all planets within 12 hours. Venus and Mercury will have to wait for another day this time. Venus is an easy daytime observation. Mercury is a bit harder though

Odd night for observing

As usual the weather forecast was a study in contradiction. Maybe the weather agencies just say the opposite from each other in order to play the odds at 50/50. After an uninspiring soggy night Friday

34 degrees at the planetarium
Yikes that was cold. I feel bent folded stapled and mutilated but we had fun tonight. Some brave souls stayed out longer than others. By the end of the evening my feet and hands were frozen and there
