Total Lunar Eclipse - Nov 8th, 2022
I have been looking around me for a spot to observe the total lunar eclipse on the 8th and wanted to let everyone know about a location I have found. The Deep Creek Park in Chesapeake has a path entrance from the north in the Sawyers Mill neighborhood and I am going to be there. As you can see from the photos it has a clear view of the western sky and there is parking in the cul de sac which is about 15 yards from where we can observe. The address is at the end of Iron Bridge Ln, Chesapeake, VA 23323. Feel free to join me if you are looking for a view of the last total lunar eclipse until 2025. If the weather forecast is poor then I suggest posting on here or in the Discord server or both to see if anyone is still planning on attending. If for some reason we were kicked out of the park then then you can see the western sky from the cul de sac. The difference is that the street light is closer to where you would be observing.
Park in the orange circle and observe from the blue View of the western sky and towards the a parking area |

I've seen those horror movies where you go into the woods at the end of the street....................it's not good.

Good luck to all those who rise early enough to see the eclipse. As you know the moon will be setting soon after totality begins. I'll probably try from my backyard or a nearby site. That is if I get up early enough!

I'm planning in arriving at 4am. I think Gabriel is going to attend as well. See you there.

Wish I could join! I should get to see it if the mountains don’t get in the way. They are about ten degrees above the horizon in places, our moonset is usually about forty minutes BEFORE the published or calculated moonset.
Moonset is calculated at 6:46 AM so it will hit the top of the mountains about 6:00 AM, Center of totality is forecasted at 3:59 so I have a little while to get a picture!

Good luck Chuck. Post your photo. I'm sure it will look pretty good with mountains in the frame.
