Moon Last Night
Had a great evening last night out with my 5 inch refractor. The comet C/2022 E3 (ZTF) was easy to spot last night. Looked good with a wide angle eyepiece - couldn't see much of a tail from my location. i enjoyed the binocular view as well. Moved over to the moon - a fine view. My favorite trio of craters were nicely lit up along the terminator -Theophilus, Cyrillus, Catharina (center of the attached image). They are located just west of the Mare Nectaris. I love the terraced walls, flat floor, and magnificent central mountain peaks of Theophilus. From the web it is 60 miles in diameter, and the drop from the highest mountains on the rim to the floor below is a breathtaking 2.7 miles! Got a quick snap from my iphone.
