The comet is undergoing change

I'm almost willing to bet that's the thin streak portion in the center of the tail that I mentioned in my notes Monday morning.

oh and lots of surface detail on the sun in Ha today. I saw a small flare rise up as I was watching this morning. Lots of very hot regions and one beeg filament.

I’ll bet that’s the same long, fat filament that I saw a few days ago.

On the 16th, Shawn and I noted no split tail, at all.  I used 4” binoculars, and he had his 8” Dob.  However, we did not have a dark sky like Mark did!

Dam Neck Beach is not a dark sky, but it has a very nice North to Southeastern horizon!

I’m interested in seeing the split in the tail with a 5” Refractor ED.  However, I think we may need more aperture [fever]!

Yes I suspect this is big aperture territory. 25 to 28 inches. I can only detect the tail (barely) and cannot see any detail in it. Kent and Roy may have something to say about it. 5 inch even in a dark sky won't dent this.

Maybe when the comet brightens more?  The Solar CME may have affected it.  IDK?  Signed, “hopeful!”
