Finally Back Out Last Night

I’m totally envious. I’m in Florida and can’t believe how high Saturn is in the sky, nor how northward Cygnus is.

Hey George outside Creedmoor NC. The moon takes awhile to get up past some high trees here so I get an extra hour of moon shade :-)

Where do you live, Ian?  Here in Tidewater, the moon rose last night about 10 pm (9:53, officially).  By 10:30 it was above the trees at Cornland Park in Chesapeake.

Wow, a wonderful night last night. I haven't been out much this summer - the late night arrival of darkness and the early morning wakeups with the dogs had kept me from doing too much. Finally it's getting dark a little earlier. Took the 5inch triplet out last night. Sat by the fire until it was dark. The milky way was visible all the way from Cassiopeia to Sagittarius. Beautiful views of star clusters and nebula from Ptolemy's Cluster all the way up to the Wild Duck Cluster. Lots of doubles in Cygnus to play around with - 17 Cygni was particularly striking last night. The moon came up about 11:30pm and the clouds started to roll in so I packed it up then.
