Nice naked eye observation tonight

A nice observation you can do is find Mars high in the sky, imagine a line arcing from the Moon, Mars and the planet pair. This gives you a good idea of the plane of the solar system. If you are careful in observing you will note the moon does not fall on this arc but rides a bit below or above it. The moon's orbit around Earth is oddly not in line with the plane of the solar ecliptic. This has implications that are quite profound for Earth's stability and theories of lunar formation.
