Re: Skywatch, 7/13/2012, 12:00 pm
We sort of thought it might do what it did the night before but that is not good enough to schedule a formal event.

Re: Skywatch, 7/13/2012, 12:00 pm (last nights observing)
Formal events are hard to predict. If the weather around here is not tough enough, all the other considerations such as staffing and logistics make planning an organized event a difficult proposition

Even funnier are our attempts to predict it. I am reading the bios of the Mercury 7 astronauts. There was the thinking that if we could observe the weather from orbit we'd be able to predict weather

I hate to say it but Kent and I had a superb night as the clouds cleared up unexpectedly. We were able to bag the 15 th magnitude galaxy next to M-57 and see the central star.

Re: A Good Reason to Wake Up at Dawn
I lucked(?) out by waking up at 4am this morning and just had to see if it was clear. Amazingly it was. So out of bed, down the stairs, out the back door...

Picnic
I hope to see you all at Saturday's picnic. I'm wearing my Sunday best attire. I'll bring potato chips & dip. The donuts will have to wait for ECSP!
