Re: Observing tonight
We found the only truly dark spot on the ship. Our cabin balcony is fairly dark. Nice drinking wine while stargazing.

Well I got in a couple of hours of observing tonight. Not as cloudy as last night but still some passing high clouds. It was tolerable at 82 degrees in humid conditions but there was a breeze so that

Oh man. My imaging goes in the tank during the summer. I have a hard time even dragging the refractor out. Dogs get me up at 5:30am and the skies get dark at 10pm or later. DST doesn't help

Scope is already set up so I will get there right before dark to keep the exposure down. Pretty sad when it is too cold to observe in winter, nothing to see in the

Ha ha Ted you should be an equipment salesman!
Yes you were there. I agree with you the Lumicon is just about universal. You know I looked through one Gen 3 which is surely not enough to form any

Re: EP/filter for Veil recommendations
I remember using your spectrograph eyepiece, Mark, with several of our filters and was surprised at how cleanly the Orion Ultrablock cut off the red end of the spectrum as opposed to the Lumicon OIII

Re: EP/filter for Veil recommendations
Maybe I 'd better be a little more careful when I say "traditional" UHC. That would be traditional to me but perhaps not everyone. A better term for filters overall I suspect would be broadband vs

Re: EP/filter for Veil recommendations
The ultra block is not the same as a traditional UHC. It has a narrower band pass range. It is my favorite filter btw but it cuts out more light than a traditional UHC. Not quite as much light cutting

Re: EP/filter for Veil recommendations
The reason Bill can't find the "Orion UHC" is because Orion doesn't call theirs a UHC ... they call it: Orion UltraBlock/Orion UltraBlock NB (Narrowband).
It's there on the web site, no supply
