Loop antennas
I will reply to this, but I may not be liked for it. The antenna that is used as a reference for most other antennas is the half wave dipole. It just works. Anything else is generally a compromise. So

Sasquattch Stomp Reminder
Many Hams think that too. And, I generally manage to get help on 2 meters or 440 - all I ever hear on 11 is cursing and people trying to "stomp" on each other. With a good quarter wave vertical, even

If I were putting in another power socket, I would use Anderson Power Poles. They give a positive connection, and are unlikely to be cross polarized. I use them on everything! 73 de W5ALX Alex Nethert

New uBITX Ver. 6 Assembled Today
A good SWR meter can be got from Ebay for not very much. I have never owned an antenna analyzer - a SWR meter works just fine for a lot less. Alex Netherton http://blueridgediscovery.org

Setup uBITX for mobile and portable operations - final amps / heatsink?
Maybe try the 9 foot whip with a Silver Bullet coil? I used a tapped antenna today (I forget the brand), but it has taps for 80 thru 2 meters, and I heard a net on 40 like gangbusters. Yes, I have use

Nextion display
How hard is it to add on a display like you would find in a V6 to a v5? Or, since I am not very familiar with Arduino or Raspberry Pi, should I just wait til I have the $$ for a V6? (I plan to get one

[BITxV6] Rcvr audio quality & diagnostic processes
Oddly, I was able to tune my BFO by tuning into a net on 40 meters (I think it was at 7.185 or so) and getting Net Control very loud. It was like a miracle when all of a sudden I could hear a human vo

How do you connect "Memory Manager" to the bitx v5? I see no connections in the radio where I can connect to a computer or anything. W5ALX Alex Netherton http://blueridgediscovery.org

Got it built, but need some audio tweaking.
Oh dear, are there instructions for that? I was under the impression that it was indeed ready to operate. Thanks! Now for a BFO setting search...

Got it built, but need some audio tweaking.
I finally got the thing built, a V5, and with some trepidation, powered it up, fully expecting to see smoke coming out the cabinet. Oddly, I got sound out the speaker, albeit "tinny". (I was a bit sur

Manual for v5
#v5
The manual can be found at the group page. There is also one in the archives for ubitx.net. The kit is basic, true, but look what you will pay for an Elecraft kit, or any other kit - MANY TIMES more.

Finished v5, gonna smoke test it this evening
I just finished my V5, and am going to test it with power this evening, just to see if it will receive. Hopefully, I got all the wires correct. I know I was supposed to have a purple wire off the Radu
