It isn’t clear to me the procedure to get the radio tuned. Since I have made it to that screen by holding in the select button and turning the radio on, what do I do from there. Am I supposed to tune

By updating the EEPROM have I made irreparable changes?

I am sure I changed the setting on this screen. I was attempting to revert back to the base configuration. I realize that was a wrong assumption.

If I turn the dial until it reads roughly 60,000 I start getting all sorts of tones that change as I keep turning the dial up to about 100,000. Then they all go away.
