Nearly non-existent output power, no mod
Hi, Maybe check the firmware and make sure there's a delay between switching the relays and enabling TX RF? -a

No, I bought a ts-430s cheap because it was broken on transmit and it turned out the finals were shot - one of the finals transistors was a dead short - and a resistor got 13.8V 20A through it. It did

Bitx40 very loud, high-pitched, low frequency noise
Hi, So if that's the case, how about wrapping the power into the bitx40 through a couple of ferrites? it sounds like you're picking up RFI on the power cable itself and it's making it into the rig. -a

Microphone audio leaking into speaker
I'm sure someone else mentioned but - that could just be RF leaking back into the amplifier output path or speaker. If you hook it up to a dummy load do you get the same effect? That'll help identify

treble only SSB modulation
Hi! I highly recommend doing it using a sound card microphone input. That way you can adjust the passband using something like fldigi to monitor the noise floor in the passband. -adrian
