Thanks to Raj for his useful advice. I have just pulled the raduino out of my BITX40 and plugged it into the USB port on my PC and voila! everything lights up the way it should so neither the raduino

Thanks Paul. I tried a 5K6 resistor across the 10T pot and the tuning range was much better. Having turned the tuning pot fully anticlockwise, I adjusted the low limit frequency to a tad under 4.0 MHz
