John, Thank you very much for the very thorough reply. Mostly (!) very encouraging, as I think this will save me a lot of thinking and worrying about ground loops in my RX audio and transformers and h

Carrier suppression on uBITX v5 - -35 to -40 dB ok?
For USB/LSB on the uBITX, what is a reasonable carrier suppression? (and how is that properly measured, i.e. I assume it's carrier relative to peak?) Background: I should have left well enough alone,

AGC Circuit for uBITX Featured in July 2019 QST Magazine
Thanks. Any thoughts on voltage rating for the capacitors, especially the "big" electrolytic ones? (10uF, 100uF, 470uF... I'm assuming they're electrolytics.) I looked at the Hycas schematic, and that

AGC Circuit for uBITX Featured in July 2019 QST Magazine
I'm looking at possibly lifting just the AGC circuit out of the JackAl design, and seeing if I can stock it out of my junk box. But... the only JFET's I have are MPF102, J201, 2N5486, and 2N4393... wi

Wow, you're right, that regulator does get pretty hot! I've got a TO-220 heatsink that I will bolt to that. That said, I would say that the heatsinks for the IRF510's has gotten at least as hot as the

Yeah, I thought about that, but from what I can tell, the stock pot is audio taper. I measure it at a few points w/ my multimeter and it seemed to fit a log profile.
