To those of you with V4 issues have you done a BFO calibration? I expect the factory stock to be acceptable but it never hurts to ask at this point! Adrian did you ever get a chance to take those measurements for me :)

For Sale: 3 Factory Raduinos #ubitx

Jim Sheldon

Going through some boxes of saved parts and I find I have 3 factory Raduinos I have no need for.

I have 2 that are from Version 5 kits that have V5.1 factory software loaded, the NANO is socketed and mounted on the back and both 16 character by 2 line LCD displays still have the protective film on them.   I also have one old one from a late Version 3 kit that has the NANO soldered in place on the front and the display no longer has the film over the lens.

I'd like to sell these to someone needing to replace a Raduino or needing a spare.

The Version 5 ones are $35 each, which includes shipping in the US.  For international shipping, add $15 to that price.
The old Version 3 one is $20 which includes US shipping - international add $15.

I can only accept PayPal as payment for these.  Please contact me direct to w0eb (at) cox dot net if you are interested to check availability and/or arrange payment if you want one, two or all of these.

Jim, W0EB

Purchase just the uBitx v5 motherboard?

Dennis Yancey

it would be a nice option to be able to purchase just the uBitx v5 main board only. There are several who have a v3 radio that would like to upgrade but already have all the hardware, wiring, pots and Raduino. Anyone at HF Signals give thought to that?
thanks

Apparently you haven't been to London, where road signs still use 'm' to officially measure distances, in  Imperial Miles, not meters.

I grew up with inches, feet and miles. Of course, I started school back during WW II.
Long before the USA got to using metric for much.
I also recall driving in Canada, in the 1960's, with miles, plus gallons for gasoline/petrol, though it was Imperial gallons, 5 US quarts, as opposed to 4 US quarts to a US gallon.
Was not till 1966 when I started learning some metric, as that was when I started working for VolksWagen, and using metric tools and parts, with British terms for parts of the cars, LOL.
Now I use a combination of things.

British terms for parts, Wayne? Well naturally: 'British' is made up from bits and pieces of lots of other stuff, starting with Latin and Greek: it has had centuries of development and refinement that others haven't - and that includes precision, accuracy and brevity plus sentence structure.
Ever tried to define them in German? In the 1960s there was a publication The Saturday Evening Post, and it had a lot of post-WWII humor. One such was "Rhymers Mein Grossfader Made" (snippets can still be found here and there, but they're few and far between). Another, more pertinent, was "Daffynitions". I remember two copies in sequence that had these gems: firstly the Jet Pilot's takeoff instructions: "Rounderworldenwhizzerstartenplan", and the next: the Jet Pilot's landing instructions: "Rounderworldenwhizzerquittenplan".

Joe, neither have I - just that Yankish calls the measurement units (m, metres) METERS, which are measuring devices. On the same scale as miles there's km.

This is getting way off topic, but I'm in the US. I used to have an 67 Triumph that was chopped when I was younger. I needed Whitworth, SAE, and Metric tools to work on that bike.

Hi everyone, my name is antonio from italy. I have a couple of questions, does it exist and where is a component list? Or does it only derive from the scheme? The toroid inductors where the specifications are? And finally excuse my ignorance, how do you wind these reels?

This is amazing. No computer graphics no simulation. Pure mechanical depiction of SWR and wave behavior using a device invented by the folks at ATT.
This is one of the most ingenious videos I have seen in a long time.

Bitx 20 3b "ugly" build

N7QL

I am getting ready to attempt a Bitx 20 3b build but instead of PCBs I am going to go the "ugly" route. I have many of the parts already and the few I don't I'll buy but it will be cheaper than buying the whole kit. I am wondering if anyone here has gone this route and how well it turned out. Thank you.

Re: Bitx 20 3b "ugly" build

Curt

Not this project, but there are examples out there - check out W0PWE and use your search engine to find others.  Virtue is you can incorporate the mods you want as you build.  Of course as I add mods to the ubitx they tend to resemble ugly construction.

S Meter output sticking when changing tune step. #ubitx-help #smeter #ubitx

derek (G4VWI)

I have just installed a kit-projects AGC board onto a new V5 board.
The output can be varied giving a useful gain.
A7 is connected directly to the AGC board.
KD8CEC latest firmware is loaded using a Nextion 3.2E display.
The output figures are lower than expected but the S Meter display works fine.
Occasionally the S Meter display freezes and takes time to resume. This happens when the tuning step is changed for example.
I am not sure what output capacitor is used on this board or if a discharge resistor is needed to ground?
I would like to hear from others who use this board or from anyone with experience of this problem using other variants of the ND6T board. What levels of output do you get feeding A7?

Thanks in anticipation.
Derek G4VWI.

Are these output watt rating crazy?

Mark Hatch

Just got my V4 uBitx operational. Currently, as designed with no mods.

Got a new Diamond Watt/SWR meter (SX200) and fired it up using CW into a dummy load. Got the following...

160M   20w
80        15
40          7
30          8
20        15
17          8
15          5
13          7
10          5

No difference (as expected on pep vs average)

The higher frequencies seem to be similar to what others have reported, perhaps a little high.  But 160, 80 and 20 just seem far to high and makes me wonder whether the "new" meter has a calibration issue.
