This is probably to save the MOSFETS from over voltage during the bias adjustment. Marco - KG5PRT

Ian Cec firmware

May seem like a dumb question but here it goes. Ian,s firmware doesn’t require any hardware mods to the Ubitx? Wire up per hfsignals and the update firmware to lasted cec version. If hardware mods required can someone point me in the right direction

Re: BITX QSO Afternoon/Evening, Sunday, May 27, 3PM & 7PM Local Time, 7277 kHz in North America, 7177 kHz elsewhere.
Had a quick exchange of call sighs with tom (VE3THR) but signals were pretty weak!

Re: How to tune / align...bitx
I suggest to reset the unit ro factory settings:
I ended up tuning into a station using the "correct" sideband for that frequency. Then selected: Setup > BFO and turned the dial untill the audio was audible. Hope this helps, Rogier

Probably not.

DC current into the gates is zilch, so those resistors have nothing to do with gate quiescent voltage. R97 and R98 set an upper bound for the AC impedance seen by the gates, since the 0.1uF caps at CV1 and CV2 look like a short to ground at RF. Going from 47 ohms to 220 ohms means the gates get driven harder at 3.5mhz, but would have little effect at 30mhz where capacitive loading predominates. So makes the power disparity between the two even larger. Drain-to-gate capacitance gives negative feedback, so not clear to me that this is a mechanism that would put the FET's in danger. But I do think it's curious. The WA2EBY has those resistors at 27 ohms.

I had a quick QSO with WI1B, Ken in Andover Mass., for a 290 mi QSO using a uBITX barefoot into a G5RV up about 35 ft. It started of 58-59 but faded after a few exchanges and there was a lot of static crashing. I also heard WA4THR, but wasn't able to contact because of the QSB.

Re: BITX40 CW Carrier Mod - CW Waveform shaping ?
#bitx40
Allard :
Thanks for the idea. I had a similar thought of splitting the resistance as you have suggested ! I don't have a working scope at the moment but I might be able to test this out by transmitting into a dummy load with the BITX40 and monitoring it with my Flex-1500 as there is a "scope" display in Power SDR that might just let me see the shaping of the received waveform. I'll do some experimenting and report back what I find. Cheers Michael VE3WMB

kj6etl Probably there is a problem with the calibration. If there is a problem with the calibration, uploading another firmware will not solve the problem. I saw this article and tried to tell you to try Facto reset. However, when you look at another thread 's article, you seem to have already solved the problem with Factory Reset. I think you did it exactly. It is also a good idea to use the uBITX Manager to enter the values recommended by other users. Thank you for using CEC firmware Ian KD8CEC 2018-05-28 2:10 GMT+09:00 kj6etl <pa1zz@...>:

I can hear KE0NXP, but the static crashes are making it impossible to get more than his call.

Re: Ian Cec firmware

Art No hardware modifications are required to use the CEC firmware. You can use it as it is released from hfsignal, When I write the firmware, nothing is based on uBITX which has not been modified You can upload the hex file by selecting xxx16P.hex The related explanation is below. If you have installed a signal meter in the uBITX, you can enable it in uBITX Manager. However, Signal Meter is not necessarily. I have two uBITXs and one is not making any modifications. Re: W8TEE vft/tft questions
tom.mccobb@...
Turned out to be a combination of the encoder sending out 4 pulses, AND a bad 2560. As soon as I swapped out the Arduino, all was well, and the code change made tuning behave better than ever.
Thanks for everyone's input. Jack: I have (and continue to) enjoyed Arduino Projects for Ham Radio.

I think the 27 ohms has more to do with 50 ohm input impedance matching.

Re: W8TEE vft/tft questions
If I remember correctly, the rotary library I use in my projects has a symbol that allows you to only recognize pulses for each detent or to also recognise intermediate pulses. Not at the computer now, but if you look at my code for the antenna analyzer that will point you to the specific library.

Pretty much any electret microphone element on Amazon, ebay, Digikey, etc will work just fine. They are polarity sensitive so you have to make sure you connect them properly.

Hi there Howard
Am going to be starting ubitx assembly tomorrow to piece it together and get 2822 replaced first. Next I wanted to ask if I can get hold of the 47uH inductor. I was not sure where to order it from if you have a link will appreciate it; I have the other 2 remaining parts. Much appreciated.
