I haven't tried a straight key but with the original firmware, I was having problems with erratic keying when using a paddle.  Since upgrading to the KD8CEC I haven't noticed a problem.

Re: uBitx Manager for Mac?

Last time I checked, it was just the Windows .exe, which can be made to work on LINUX with Mono. I tried Mono on my Mac, but it did not work. I also tried Wine. It does come up, but I have no idea how to get the USB port configured.

Re: uBITX Firmware CEC Version Added WSPR function, I am looking for a beta tester. #ubitx

Carlos E. Wenzel

Hello Ian,
BPF are working ok now! As you can check IK2YRA on wsprnet.

It takes me a while to found a delta between Master calibration (175000)and WSPR calibration (149000) i write it to the ubitx and  everything was perfect, so i saved the config as a file .btx to back up.
But it was impossible to have the wspr cal parameter back on his bitx's Manager field reading from ubtx.
I try to read it even loading my file .btx, but no way.  The field turns to have the Master Cal value (175000).
It seem to "stay alive" on ubitx's memory but if read it from ubitx and then write it back... you loose the wspr cal value.
Hope i been understandable.
This is the only bug that I found.
Thanks for your great JOB!
Carlos IK2YRA

Philip, Carlos and all

For the WSPR Beta version. Since the HEX file and the uBITX Manager link are in the thread, I send mail from here.
I posted uBITX Firmware (KD8CEC Version) which can beta test WSPR function.
(Version : 1.51W)

It does not use any device to send WSPR the such as the previous version. Only one uBITX board is required.
(A wristwatch within 5 seconds of the error range is also required.)

The problem with previous versions was that the Band Pass filter was not applied properly and the frequency was transmitted outside the WSPR band.
But Philip did the testing in ways I never thought. It is calculated by wrong frequency and entered directly.
The people who saw it in the BITX group succeeded in sending the WSPR according to Philip's method.

It looks like the problem has now been resolved.
The BPF problem was my mistake, and the frequency problem was the calibration problem.

As a result of applying Master Calibration already set in uBITX to new logic, we confirmed that WSPR is transmitted at the correct frequency.

The picture below shows the test pictures at 630M (474,200hz) and 10M (28,124,600Hz).

Before writing this article, Gerald saw the article I edited on my blog and made the test and it succeeded.

I think the WSPR implementation is not so difficult because there are already a lot of open source. I just apply the source code.
Rather, I think the test is more difficult. That's why I am so grateful to those who test me.

Please let me know your test result and I will check it on wsprnet.org and capture it.

Hello Ian.

Is the WSPR frequency calculator in uBITX manager working correctly. Or is the uBITX transmitting on the wrong side band ?.
I would like test the update when you have done it.

In your .wine/dosdevices directory you will add a soft link to the USB port like this:

sudo ln -s /dev/ttyUSB0 ~/.wine/dosdevices/com1

This link is permanent, so you only have to do it once.

Hope this works okay on a Mac (I do Linux).

I download uBITX-master/uBITX_20/  here under are 9 files (ino) I click on uBITX_20.ino and the IDE start up.

The IDE is then loaded with a big file.............

When I start compile there are lot of errors.

I understand that some files must be missing.

Is there not only one file to compile ?

Help Mike,

Great idea.

For my part I don't know if it's hard code developer or more mad hacker, but it is fun.

Here is a picture of the latest addition, an L-Network ATU built in the uBitx case, driven by two servos and controlled by an Arduino mini pro linked over I2C to the Raduino.

It is now working well (80m to 10m) but needs cleaning up, shields (just to make sure) and a nice display of SWR and Power on the LCD.

More details to come.

All the best,

73, John (VK2ETA)

I am very interested in the servo control code and components and wiring!  I would like to adapt that to handle a pair of servos for an az-el rotor for my satellite Arrow antenna, which only weighs about 1-2 pounds.

Then add a bit of code to show the actual antenna position and I'll be all set, hi hi.

Another adaptation of this project would be to remotely tune a magnetic loop antenna.  One of the problems you run into when trying to tune a loop is that your body affects the tuning.

Thanks for the measurements Glenn.

Have you connected your driver stages to the finals in the uBitx and re-measured, or are you going to duplicate the final stage outside of the unit, or replace the current driver components in place?

Cheers and 73, John (VK2ETA)

Very nice work John I have been thinking of doing something similar, I’ll be interested to see how your sketch works. I’m a Arduino hacker too it helps to understand how these things work.

uBitx low signals on the speaker

Júnior PY2ADA

Hi ubitxer's, I received, I mounted and calibrated my ubitx these days, here in Brazil. And the results:

1) Low volume of the signals received in the speaker, being necessary to increase the volume at the maximum for some weak signal.
2) TDA2822 FIC heating when it receives some signal measured around 45º Celsius.
3) When I connect the speaker output to another external amplifier everything is normal.
Mods made:
1) Replacement of the FIC TDA2822 by Av2822P manufacturer Avic (used in pc sound) which is also warming up.
2) Installed socket dil 08 on the board for possible replacement.
No Results

Tests:
1) Measurements of the components around the AV2822P. OK
2) Test with 1Khz @ 1.5Vp signal injector at the amplifier input (pin 7) Ok
3) Test with rf generator (strong signal on the speaker) Ok

I am believing that the problem may be in the RF step of uBitx.
I'm analyzing

Here is a fix for the audio chip heating.  It involves a very simple 7806 voltage regulator mounted on the back of the board.

Enjoy,

The solution on groups.io is subgroups. However, that also requires a dedicated/active moderation staff to keep things on track.

Heck, even if we just could get the "when will my bitx arrive", "I got my ship date", "I got my bitx" somewhere else the volume would go down.
