Re: uBITX Firmware (CEC) 0.30 released (Test version).
#ubitx
Hi Ian,
So what is the latest version of firmware? I down loaded 1.01 and installed it via Xloader, however when i turn on the uBITX it shows 1.00 on the display. Now I notice there is a version 1.02. Where do i get the latest greatest version? Thanks for doing this. Joel N6ALT

Re: Ubitx delivery suggestion
I called DHL and they told me to leave a note on the door with my shipping number and my signature. As it turned out I was home when it was delivered by a courier and no signature was required anyhow so go figure.

If anyone's worried about future deliveries, when the DHL guy or gal gets to your house, ask them for a signature release. DHL will keep it on file so you don't need to worry about it. I have them on file with both DHL and FedEx.

The stick clamped by a vice holding the pcb is nice to watch. Perhaps we can simply buy a double sided sticker tape. first stick to a table surface or some such After peeling off the top protective layer, we can press the PCB on to top gum area. as we never solder across the whole pcb at same time sticker manages. later we can take off the pcb and clean the gum on the bottom side with Iso propyle alcohaul. regards sarma vu3zmv

Re: uBitX - problem with power draw and failed chip
Hey Mike,
I know why it didn't work, it doesn't glow in the dark:-) No seriously folks, that's a bummer. The TDA2822M's speaker output is not referenced to ground and must be isolated from ground. It's a BTL amp. I toasted one first time I used it because I didn't know this. Just a thought. Joel N6ALT

Re: uBitX - problem with power draw and failed chip
Disregard that last comment Mike, I was confusing the TDA2822 with the TDA7052A, oops.

Hey Joel, thanks for the head's up. I'll look for any possible ground path. The board was sitting on a piece of wood on the bench, it's not likely I shorted a pin, but I'll be more careful.

Re: wrong frequency after software change.
#ubitx
I'm sure there is a less mystical answer to this. I still think its something to do with software as it was working perfectly in a BIXT40 before I put the header in it so as to use it for a uBITX. But, you never know, maybe I missed a little solder jumper or something on that order. Still checking (again, with a microscope , 20power, this time. On a laptop screen.) But, I've checked my work, its very methodical and switches at 10mhz to lsb. Which leads me to really wonder about the possibility of one bit being off. I had read that one bit is changed (by the original)

Re: wrong frequency after software change.

If I were to go back to Ians software, (might as well) , there is a BFO adjustment that I have heard can at least make the audio sound better. One thing I hadn't mentioned, audio sounds terrible with that version using the BITX40 Raduino in a uBITX. cec101 . Guess theres a new one out already.

https://www.raspberrypi.org/blog/why-raspberry-pi-isnt-vulnerable-to-spectre-or-meltdown/ And if that was too confusing: https://xkcd.com/1938/ Seriously, unless you are locked into Microsoft or Apple products for some absurd reason and assuming you aren't too worried about framerates while gaming or the like, the $35 RasberryPi-3 is a perfectly fine desktop computer for email and web-browsing and reading pdf's. And absolutely great if you want to play with hardware and python and gcc. And with the Arduino IDE. If you don't happen to have a TV with HDMI, an HDMI computer monitor is under $100. Jerry, KE7ER

Re: Bitx40 - receiver works great, but do not transmit
#bitx40help
I was replaced Q9 with a new MMBT3904 and now it seems to be ok with my Bitx40. For final transmission testing i build a simplest direct-conversion receiver on SA612 + LM386. I hear myself good, without distorsions. Now - going to air.

Re: Second batch of uBITX shipping?
#ubitx
I ordered January 12, 2018. Only response received (like many before and after me I am sure, was) "We have received your payment of USD 109 on January 12, 2018 through Paypal. Your payment has been included in the 'Pre order' list. The orders are being shipped in the order of the payment received. It is difficult for us to estimate the shipping date for your order. However, we are putting our best efforts to ship them asap. The tracking details of the shipment will be updated on the Paypal transaction once the order is shipped." So I am waiting like many others have had to do and many other will have to do.
