i used TeamView for free with personal use. I took a bit to get both computers trusted and set up...one with Ubuntu/AtomicPi and the other Win10/oldlaptop. But...it works. Here is a screen cap from my win10 laptop controlling the AtomicPi with ubuntu controlling my V4 uBITX running WSJTX and completing a JT8 QSO.

I am thrilled!!! I have remote control for both good and evil...hahaah (actually not evil as I don't really know what that would amount to, hahah).

After this success, I switched to Fldigi and that works as well sending the keyboard via the link to Fldigi text input window. However. If the uBITX audio output level is set too low from the last time I physically adjusted the speaker volume, then I have no way to change/increase the uBITX output level to make Fldigi happy.  I'll pay with setting the uBITX output on the high side, and then try to lower the level on the software side of some application.

Now I see the real advantage to complete visualization of the transceiver (.e.g. Flex). if I had all of the uBITX functions on the screen, then the volume controls would be screen sliders allowing me to adjust it all from remote control. 

So question...is there a way to adjust the uBITX volume levels in software through some interface?  

The other challenge is not seeing the RF output levels. At the rig, I run the uBITX RF output through a old fashioned power meter to keep the lid on power levels. It would be nice to see the rig output on the screen somehow. I know I can adjust the drive level remotely, I don't really know the impact that is having on RF power output levels...

But, to the question of basic remote control, assuming your physical rig i/o levels are set in the range, then TeamViewer will allow remote control of your computer apps and rig. Seems to work fine. 

If there is a reboot, I don't yet know about having TV boot automatically so you can always get remote into it. I'm sure that is doable.

I need some help trouble shooting bitx 20 ver 3b mixer stage. The VFO p-p is 125mv (In fact I had to add a capacitor to the frequency counter for it to work)) Q7 dc voltage is per the manual , when I scope Q7 output after connecting the mixer I get 4.1V sinus clipped at the top by the 12V power supply . I attach a picture of the scope. Any advise ? I forgot to mention that this is unbuilt kit and I just got to the mixer stage per the manual.

With this updated firmware and a jumper I am still seeing -13dB in SNA mode? Is this still considered normal? I also see some un-linearity with some pads but ill blame that on lack of calibration for my unit.

I put not a basic and enhanced version of the 5” screen in the file section. Look under the directory AJ6CU. 

I do not have a basic version so I was not able to test it.  The enhanced  version has a faster processor so I would not be surprised if there are some performance issues.

I've attached to hex files (compiled binaries).  I'd recommend trying mine (ported to OpenGLCD, added bhall66's linearity and encoder fixes), and doing calibration afterwards.  I'm quite happy with my devices accuracy and functionality, particularly with those improvements.  If that doesn't work to improve things, i've also included a compiled binary of the original code from Farhan.  That will return it to the way you received it.  With the hex files you just have to worry about setting up the Arduino IDE to connect - you don't have to worry about libraries, compiling, etc.  (IDE settings - Board:  Arduino Nano; Processor: ATMega328P (Old Bootloader); Port:  Whatever it is on your system)

Mine seems just as accurate as any other equipment I have here (which is admittedly nothing even remotely near lab grade).  YMMV. Let me know how it goes!

If you have a front panel you don't need to buy anything. Just make the display hole bigger. Lay out the hole and use a small drill and play "connect the dots" In no time you will have a hole for the new display.

Are they powering on to RX or TX?  Unless you have the CW resistors installed on the KEY jack, the radio will power up on TX.

These are caused by passing a string constant to the printLine2() function which expects a character pointer, thus is a type mismatch. Try this:

    printLine2( (char *) "uBITX v5.1");

I’m no expert but here’s what got me out of trouble when helped by others:

 

We have a CW practise station here in VK-land  which transmits constantly on 3.599 MHz so I tuned to this and tweaked the CW BFO setting on the uBitx whilst listening. It worked fine for me. I guess any CW station will do the trick.   My setting ended up at 11.055.105 which might put you in the ballpark.

 

To have ubitx display the same Tx & Rx freq on CWL or CWL open uBitx Memory Manager.  Connect to uBitx. Read from uBitx. Then check the “Enabled Adjust CW Tx Frequency” and  “Shift Display Frequency on CWL, CWU Mode” boxes.  Leave the “CW Freq Adjust Value” at zero.

There appears to be little written about this elsewhere so I was wondering how successful you were in sorting out receive in CWU and CWL by tweaking the CW RX BFO settings? How close did you get to sharpening up the reception of CW signals using the CWU and CWL modes in the KD8CEC firmware?

Did you use a signal generator or CW signal on a known frequency, or did you just tune to a strong CW signal and tweak for best audio? What have others done to obtain the best results?
