Best advise I can offer is first build it completely stock on your bench and make sure everything works as expected before doing any modifications.

Ordered A uBitx today

mm0bef@...

Hi,
Ordered a uBitx today with the DHL option to get delivered to UK. Dont mind the 20pounds or so duty DHL impose as i want the radio asap. Been following this group and been following and reading about this radio for a year or so. Got a basic case 3d printed ready for it and got details on some mods i'll be doing to it so ready to go when it gets here. If anyone has any advice on mods for it or any other advice I would be glad to hear from you.

Best Regards

Paul:

All of the messages are really saying the same thing: They cannot find the definitions of certain variables or functions in the code. The KD8CEC software has 17 source code files and ALL of those files need to be in the same directory. My guess is that one or more of those files is missing. Check to see that you have all of the source code files and that they are all in the same directory. Also, it helps people like me if you tell us the version of the IDE (e.g., 1.8.10) and what OS (e.g. Windows 10) that you're using.

Hi all,

I have just spent the better part of four hours trying to download ubitx software version 5.1 from the ubitx.net, github, ect. The only one I was able to download and compile was ver x0.0020? (I think). Anyway I would like to have a spare Nano with the original 5.1 software but I get errors such as: "'checkCat' was not declared in this scope" and "'si5351bx_setfreq' was not declared in this scope'.
See attached.
I have tried several times and I am stuck. Any ideas?

Thanks,

Re: Power OUT .. #bitx20

Erich,

The hashtag should be #ubitx!

you can reduce power with RV1.

you can remove R83 to reduce gain.

abt all - I am a bit in doubt abt uBITX if I read all the topics about the different issues and problems - with calibration , Filters etc.

BUT I have started - with ordering and collecting all the parts. (most are received in HB9)

Assembling will do in December when I will be in QTH EA8 (now in SV8 on my ship).

I will first build the Original uBITX and tune them up. After I change the Firmware to K5CEC .

Then assemble the AGC (QRP-Kits) and the CW-Filter (Sotabeams).

After assembling the 2.8" Nextion display.

Now, some write about Power out too less ... for me is this in reverse....I would be able to decrease the power out , down to abt 100mW

I checked the scematics an found the R85 100 Ohms. - Is this ok for decreasing PWR to assembe a 100 Ohm Variable resistor which pulls the Basis to GND.?

TNX for confirmation Erich

I purchased and built one, very happy with it. Good support from the seller, had a minor issue with calibration, made a minor component change based on the seller's guidance, and that took care of the issue.

Look at the seller information, and you will find NM0S - it is actually him selling the kits.

Thanks guys.  I am going to try the zero adjustment with the meter that came with the kit. But I also ordered one of the Workman meters.  :)  They have the leads on the top side, so we’ll see if it will work with the Nextion case.

Re: Wattmeter kit on eBay

Zachary Ledbetter

I have used one of these for over 2 years!  Just be very careful regarding the polarity when connecting the display as it not protected.  I installed a connector between the display and the board to allow easy disassembly.

One segment on the display went out after a few months and I replaced it during home distractions and discovered the hard way about the lack of polarity protection.  Ordered another display and all has been working well!

I have several QRP transceivers and always use device.  The built in dummy load and SWR bridge make tuning stress free.  I most often use a magloop and the SWR prevents PA damage during tuning.

Interesting, looks like someone is selling the old kit that 4 States QRP Group used to sell. Designed by David Cripe.

To those who got me pointed in the right place to figure out how to build and mod my V3, thank you.  There are not pdf files, but that was not a big deal. I just cut and pasted all the info in a word file and printed it out.  Then save the file as a docx and pdf format just in case. Now I have all I need to build the radio and align it as well as a few different ideas on changes to L5 and L7 to clean up the TX signal.  If anyone has a favorite one let me know. I like the one of winding 12 turns on a T30-6 core. I guess that is what the V5 board is using..

In any case will all the things on my plate right now and with rain and snow coming It will be a while before I get into this radio project.  Should be fun. My end use will be experimenting with WSPR and different antennas and mostly likely FT8.  There will be some SSB and CW also... I was at Harbor Freight today and looking at their ZERO knock off boxes.  Think I will out this board and display in one with a internal battery and manual antenna tuner.  No holes in the case, Everything has to be done with the lid up, as in charging the battery, plugging in a antenna, mic, key and computer.  Making a real EmComm go box. Hopefully with no splatter or very little..

Thank you again I am sure I will have more questions as time goes by.

Hi Andy,

I'm using the AGC/S-Meter board that came withe the case, it works good. I was able to calibrate it it to a S 9 signal standard so it's very accurate also. It doesn't show SWR, but that could be done with Kits and Parts SWR bridge.

HFSignals.com is the main source of info on the µBITX. However, ubitx.net is a very valuable resource, too.

Once I get it working I will then look into all the up hardware and firmware updates. Thank you for your time and help.
