Re: CW Filter

Hi Reg,

I just finished today to fit the Sotabeams in my uBitx case.

I used the genuine audio output (yellow wire) of the uBitx, to feed the Sotabeams filter (audio In), connected along with the "V" output of my AGC (https://shop.kit-projects.com/index.php?route=product/product&product_id=101), and the audio output of the filter to the High side of the volume pot.

No RF troubles in the audio, and the filter is VERY efficient in CW narrow mode :)

Seems the problem is now fixed.  Not sure what happened, but making his

Re: Bitx V6 Modifications

Hiss reduction update

I finished the first go-round with my Amateur Radio Kits case upgrade for my v5 uBitx.  Ran into an audio feedback issue when using the provided 5 watt audio amp.  The cause of the feedback was the excessive gain in the audio sections of the combined ubitx and audio amp.  The gain of the LM386 on the ubitx board is set at 200 for the onboard LM386 (1 uf cap between pins 1 and 8).  I removed pins 1 and 8 (bent them parallel to verify the gain issue) and that set the gain to the default 20 and solved the feedback problem.  Now the "hiss" was back, and the pin 5 to pin 8 bass increase also caused gain issues.  The solution was to go back to the LM386 datasheet and find the proposed solution there:  a 0.33 uf cap in series with 10 K ohms resistor between pins 1 and 5.  This worked for the rig with the amplifier board.

Passing on the learning experience.  Use it as you will.

Better we select by low Cgs so that for multibanders it serves at even 10m babd.

Well, I held back.   There are MULTIPLE ways to get an equivalent system.   We've built multiple; and there are others commerccially out there.   The code can be found and easily uploaded, but there are MULTIPLE updated versions that are even better.   I would urge you to read for a bit -- and a lot more will fall into place.

Attached are diptrace files that would allow you to order and build your own Raduino.   or a not-yet-really-that-good SWR meter, or an external VFO, or signal generator.    I know this makes very little sense to you now, but I'm tryiing to explain that the more you understand here, the more obvious multiple solutions will become, and learning is a big part of ham radio.

A 2N2219A is just a 2N2222A with higher power dissipation (between 50% and 100% more) due to the larger metal can.  That’s all.

Well,

I was looking at a datasheet that had both the 2219 and 2219A listed and there was a difference between the two:

https://www.onsemi.com/pub/Collateral/2N2219-D.PDF

I usually try to research things a bit before I post them.  Did I get it wrong?

Mark,

Your speculating on a created phantom.  The 2n2219 is a 2222A in a TO5 can
vs to18 same Die.

Datasheet enclosed for both from the same vendor!

Hi Ronnie,

Make certain your encoder is plugged into the socket on top of the Raduino and NOT the identical socket on the UBitx PCB.

Hi!
I just got a new full uBitx v6.1 kit.

I followed all assembly instructions per the HF signals website.  The assembled unit display comes on when power is applied and the volume control is turned on.

I can toggle some functions from the touch screen, ie., change USB to LSB, directly input a frequency, etc., but I'm not really hearing anything from the receiver.

The vfo dial will not work to change the frequency at all.  Loud pings come from the speaker when I rotate the vfo.  Also, I cannot get the unit to go into setup mode for calibration.

Has anyone else seen this behavior before for a new unit?  Am I missing something simple?

Any suggestions are greatly appreciated!

Hi,
I have an older BITX40 that did not come with the RADUINO.  Does anyone have the Raduino board with Si5351, Arduino Nano with code loaded and working that is ready to use?
I want to try this with my BITX40.
Please contact me off the group so as not to bother everyone.
