ubitx v4 distortion/ vibration in audio out

Biju Apkrcl

I have ubitx 163/ 2 tuned to correct  frequency, reception is good but audio is vibrating badly making distortion. I  connected an external amplifier from TP 20 . The same problem existing. That means distortion from  earlier stages. How to solve this issue? Please help.

Almost there. Bag ties holding the funtronics board are temporary until I pick up more zip ties. I'll be running the in/out volume pots to a dual concentric pot in the rf/mic location on the case, so it's nice and clean and no extra holes. I ran the audio coax (which was incredibly PITA to work with for me also) to the key/mic/phones board that came with the case, rather than doing any soldering onto the ubitx itsself. I still need to work out some way to connect the usb shield, I want it to be detachable, as I'm trying not to have too much permanently installed or require de-soldering to remove.

I confess I am not familiar with that hardware set, but I tend to trust the instructions with the AGC board.  Likely the other approach of connecting just the high side of the audio at the volume control is for someone without an AGC board.  a key matter is making sure you understand the maximum voltage of the pin you are plugging into on the other side of the AGC board.  now if you tune in a huge signal (try one of the FT8 frequencies) and measure the voltage from the AGC board, you will know its level - and likely it will be low enough to feed into an arduino pin - via that suggested resistor to bound the current.

fantastic on your entry into ham radio.  great to have you in the ubitx community also.

I finally got it in the metal chassis and it doesn't hum any more :) Thanks! (although I'm still getting those loud broadcast stations, but I think the suggestions here will solve it)

Well I finally gotten the STM32F769-FT8-Transceiver project to a state worth releasing.

I have placed the files required for making the project on Github at this location: https://github.com/chillmf/STM32F769-FT8-Transceiver

I hope you enjoy the project.

I am trying to build this v5 for a blind ham in KS. I have too much going on right now. Is there anyone that could align/troubleshoot  this so that I can get it to the guy? I will pay for parts/shipping, etc.

And don’t forget the microscope we all have in our smart phones.  Take a photo and blow it up on your computer...... shows all my sins usually.  An ohm meter and a smart phone are the start of anyones build or repair kit.  In fact I bought a USB electronic microscope a few years ago at Dayton but have never had to use it... my smart phone does all I have needed so far.

Better to use an ohmmeter (DVM or other type) to see if there is continuity from 'ground connections on the board - any, they are all connected within the board) to the OUTER conductor of the coax connector.  if this is an open circuit, you aren't properly connected.  (you might be connected to the board but maybe not the case - see note about scraping paint if you case has paint).

building RF stuff requires some investigation - use a meter always, don't trust your eyes.  don't ask about my own misadvertures!

Hello !
You can even listen long waves or lower (SAQ on 17.2Khz fo example) with the little SA612 Based VLF converter (see attached), works great

In my opinion using it just as a receiver is a bit of waste. It's an excellent choice as a qrp transceiver, but a Tecsun portable receiver like a PL660 is just more convenient with synch detector, AM, excellent SSB, excellent AGC, and you have the AM Airband as well. And plenty of volume too.

I have read over the info about the uBitX on HFSigs. I understand it receives LSB and USB, but there is no mention of it being capable of receiving AM. I am considering getting one to use primarily to listen to what's left on shortwave. Is that possible?
