Hello Pino and all,

Congratulations, more one BITX on the band, if possible take some pictures of your manhattan style and post it in the photos file on this nice group. Congratulations again.
73 for all,
Celso - PY2XT

I finally finished my BITX20. I haven't made a contact, but TRX
working very well.
I used manhattan style and I haven't made PA Mosfet.
Many thanks all for this group and information !

Thanks Rahul

I have done a conversion of the series 3 track layout gif or jpg ,
(whatever) to a PS (postscript) file.
There definitely looks to be a distortion of dimensions when using the
non PS image.
This wouldn't be a problem if IC's or IF cans were not used.

Tonight I will look at the printouts.
If the PS looks good perhaps I will upload these files as it probably
would be of help to other bitx20 board etchers out there.

Theres nothing worse after drilling a board and then having to hog out
the holes to get things to fit.

Would there be a board artwork file anywhere for vers:3 in postscript

These print better and come out to scale every time.

Hi! Aurangzeb,
Ver2 board was designed by me, there are few errors
1) Mic amp bias resistor goes from collector to base rather than supply rail to base
2) Pin 2 of LM386 has to be grounded at two points (see ver3 board) to avoid audio instability.
3) Given the quality of BC547s in these parts the gain was slightly less hence a different shunt feedback arrangement was adopted in later version .
Ver 3 has been made in large numbers except for the mic amp resistor no other corrections are needed I suggest go ahead with Ver3 board and once up incorporate suitable mods from hendrick kits design..

Probably like many others in here , I can make a 20 from my junk box
(new) parts , but there would be a huge sense of QRP frustration if
after etching a board and placing the parts that one of the developers
says thats theres been a big screw up in design requiring a complete
re-engineering.

Regarding the Bitx20 I would like someone to say , this is right - now
build :-)

Hiya

I am ready to start building when a design is settled on which is more

Hi all,

Has anyone tried it before. If yes I would appreciate any feedback on

By the way the files section does not contain the schematic for version

I have received my MKARS 80 kit today.
Steve has sent it as soon as I paid the fee via paypal and it took only
5 days to come to Turkey.
This is a very nice qrp kit, the PCB is great and I am planning to finish
mounting it this weekend.
Thank you MKARS and thank you Steve.
(Of course I am also waiting the bitx 20 kit too)

Hi Rahul,

I was going to announce it when proven... about 10 have been built so
far. I didn't want too many questions whilst I was sorting
the "issues" out!

I will get a complete data pack on the net as soon as possible, this
will have PCB data and a complete bill of materials for any one
wanting to replicate it.

Re: MKARS KIT

Hi Steve

Congrats on a very nice kit!

I keep refering to a Huff and Puff circuit but in actual fact it is a
frequency lock derived from the frequency counter.
I'd still call it a Huff & Puff circuit: because all a Huff Puff is,
is a frequency lock derived from a frequency counter. It's just that
if you build a dedicated Huff Puff stabiliser circuit, you can
eliminate the display and driver, most of the frequency counter logic,
and all the counting stages except for the least significant bit. Then
you have a simple 1-bit frequency counter, which corrects the
frequency. But it's still the same principle!

Re: MKARS KIT

Steve drury <g6alu@...>

Hi Paul,
I now know where all the sudden enquiries have come from!

The MKARS80 was developed from the BITX20 and has been built by many
members of our club with great enthusiasm.

I should point out that there is some drift while the circuit warms
up, this is caused by the polyvaricon's temperature coeficient and is
dificult to compensate for, once warm the Huff and Puff will hold the
frequency steady unless you have some long "overs".

The Huff and Puff hold in range is shown on the LCD display by a "bar"
so you know if the VFO is about to drift.

I keep refering to a Huff and Puff circuit but in actual fact it is a
frequency lock derived from the frequency counter.
