Re: Ubitx rf our #ubitx

I see a lot of talk about putting attenuators between the uBITX RF output and amplifiers.  There's one major problem with this.  If you put the attenuator between the uBITX antenna line and the amplifier, the same amount of attenuation is applied to the receiver input on the uBITX as applied to the output, effective reducing the receiver's sensitivity by that same amount.

The only way this will work is if you connect another relay (or solid state switch) to bypass the attenuator while receiving.

LCD Display on UBITX

Is there a way to dim the LCD display on the UBITX?  I know there is the contrast adjustment on the back of the one board.  I would like to dim the LCD display a little.  It is very bright.

Thanks

Wouldn't it be easier to put in an attenuator after the RF out?  Possibly with a switch to bypass it?  A T-circuit with two 8.2Ω resistors in series with a 150Ω resistor between them to ground should give 3 dB attenuation and halve the signal.  Or make it as a separate dongle between the XCVR and the antenna.

Re: I got my uBITX ... adventurous shipment !

Mikael <mikael.madsen@...>

I was hoping to get around fees by chosing India Post but no luck. Every single package to Sweden regardless of who transport it get slammed with handling fee and VAT now.
All small parts needed was ordered and delivered during waiting time for radio so still happy. :-)

Correct summarized Dexter. VAT on radio in this case $109 equals $27.25 rest was handling fee in this case about $14.25
No opinion or political angle on it intended. Compared to what I get its still a very good deal. I will be ordering a second one now

Swedish post has just been overwhelmed with number of China packages so was no fees or VAT on any shipment from Asia for a couple of years. All over now. Just have to adapt to that

Cheap China packages is history for us in Sweden now since postal office is introducing a handling fee of 9USD + 25%VATon declared value
on ALL packages from 1st March regradless of value.
If I order something small for 2USD free shipping from Aliexpress now - I will pay Ali 2USD and then 9,5USD in VAT plus handling fee to get the package out in Sweden.
Been known for some weeks now but will be hundreds of thousand packages already on the way that people never will pick up now with the new fees

Thanks Michael.

I will keep all of these comment in mind.  unfortunately I already did the mod.  I will try a couple of things if need be I will put new resister back in.  It will be a good training in SMD's but tricky considering I cannot even read the little buggers even with my glasses on.  LOL

HI Thomas,
THe Raduino is not currently available form HF Signals.
You can however build you own one fairly easily. I have a board that is being manufatured that make this fairly simple.
