Before working on the AGC wiring, I would make sure the audio amp and the rest of the rig is working.
I assume that you will be using the Front Panel PCB supplied and that you have solder

I also use a toothpick and paper glue stick.
I just ut the toothpick point in the stick, then on the component and put it in place

Since as you say , it’s been sitting a while . Did you try rocking re-seating / cleaning all connectors / display board?

Allard, Thanks again for your reply, I tracked it down this afternoon after disovering galloping freq shift from a US Ham. Turned out to be the 10 turn pot had lost the connection at the earth end. I
