Almost any standard NPN transistor will do the job. A 2n2222 should work fine!

I had noted the lack of updates as well.  The only explanation that I can think of is that there is not a lot of work being done on the v6, and the older versions are no longer available.

There are two major works for the v6:
1 - Reed N's software update that fixes a number of issues with the stock software, yet retains the stock display.
2 - The replacement of the stock display with a Nextion display and then update all software to the last version from KD8CEC.

The spurs and harmonics were fixed in the v5.
Including the case as an option made the case market diminish
The only major issue not covered has been the low transmit power on SSB due to the Boafeng mic.
There would be interest in adding extra display functions, like a panadapter and maybe some DSP for CW, however, none of that has caught on, even with the material from KD8CEC.
The other area not to get much traffic is upgrading the Nano to allow for more functions.  This would be something that I would be interested in.  There is a Teensy upgrade available.  I have not seen any traffic on what has been done with it.

It seems like the major traffic has moved to QRP-Labs as the uSDX effort.

Bingo

Semi QSK was off. Now have 5v out of D7 and very small power out when holding PTT down and keying.

Next I’ll look at getting a transistor in there that will turn on the PTT relay. TX-RX mod. Made a note in my manual.

Will try to find out if a 2n2222 will do the job.

The eBay listing was for a set of 5 connector pairs (m and f) with wires -- seems like a pretty good deal to me?  $1.40 for each set seems OK.

Thanks for your reply. I do have a black wire going from A0 to C150 with a 10k resistor in series.

My thinking was that D7 was not activating the PTT which should activate the PTT Sense signal at A0. But looking at it again it looks like it’s the TX signal via the U3 to A0 is the PTT sense. I will check that there is a level change on pin 1 of U3 when the PTT relay is activated. Not sure what pin 1 of U3 is, just expected it was a 5v outlet. I’ll check what is happening on A0. Kind of like a chicken and egg situation maybe?

The IRF510's should have a better heat sink if you are asking for more power from them.
Tabs should never get uncomfortably hot to touch.
The silicon die in the IRF510's will be much hotter, as thermal conductivity from die to tab is not very good.

Many in this forum have successfully boosted power by increasing voltage to the finals.  
A few have destroyed their IRF510's.

Also, as more power goes out of the IRF510's, they demand more power from the previous stages.
This may result in distortion or spurious products.

You could separate out the 12v into the finals at L9, increase that voltage up to perhaps 20 volts
while keeping the rest of the rig at 12v.

the maximum power voltage is defined by one component : LM386N-1 that have MAX 14Vcc power supply (look the data-sheet at : https://www.ti.com/lit/ds/symlink/lm386.pdf?HQS=TI-null-null-mousermode-df-pf-null-wwe&ts=1600459750453 be careful, at 15,2 Vcc the LM386N-1 renders the soul ... hi. hi. hi ... this from my experience in other projects !

if you want to increase the power even more, i don't know if other components have limitations (e.g. power mos of the final amplifier), for the LM386 you could try to replace it with the model LM386N-4 (Mouser part n.926-LM386N-4 ) which can sustain about 18/20 Vdc power supply, but pay close attention to the other components !!!! it's not nice to see SMD components smoke !!!

Yep. I agree 100%. There's something else that's hinky, and I don't know what it is. I need to do more testing before I power this thing up again. I think 12V got somewhere it shouldn't have. It might have been isolated to the arduino and the si5351 or it might not have. I've been working on it in its enclosure, which is a custom 3d printed job, and the close quarters is making things hard.:Something is damaged though, and it killed the 5351 again and I need to track down why.

Like I said, this does have a couple of Allard's mods, but is my own firmware and built with very different parts. There's no Raduino here. Further digging will commence when I can. I need to order more parts.

The stock Bitx40 has few wires between Raduino and the main Bitx40 board,
just 12v DC to power the Raduino's 5v regulator, that Si5351 out through a series cap,
and a couple grounds.
The series cap helps avoid danger to the Si5351.
Very little danger of destroying the Raduino if you're careful with where 12v might touch.
Especially problematic has been the extra leads from the Bitx40 Raduino wiring cable,
many in the forum have had the tip of an unused lead hit 12v and blow up the Nano.

If you did Allard's mods, make sure his additional wires do not have anything
that exceeds 5v going from the radio back into the Arduino..
