Absolutely correct Evan!

If you upgrade to the KD8CEC software, there is a memory manager program that runs on a PC that can read the current values for the calibration parameters (as well as others) through the USB connection. I do not know of a way to get the values for the stock software.

Victor,

If you have a microphone connected to your computer you could use the BFO tuning page to verify that the sound is the same.
https://www.hfsignals.com/index.php/bfo-tuning-aid/

If you do decide to upgrade to the KD8CEC software, be sure to select the correct one for your display.  There are 2 and 4 line display versions as well as Nextion Basic and Enhanced versions.  I would recommend the upgrade.  The zip file has a description file with the decoder as to which file to use for each of the display options.  The stock display is UBITXV5_CEC_V1.200_16P.hex.  You also need the xloader software.
https://github.com/phdlee/ubitx/releases/tag/v1.20
https://github.com/xinabox/xLoader

The above assumes you are running Windows on your PC.  There is the software AvrDude for Linux, I do not know if there is the equivalent for Mac.  I have seen some discussions on AvrDude for Mac.

Yes Victor, replace the Arduino Nano. The nano is not able to write into eeprom memory is my guess. This has happened to
my boards also.

When you say NANO, are your referring to the Arduino? Was following the block diagram and all roads seem to lead to that. But seems other then the bfo store issue, it seems to be working (unit will transmit, cw works, it tunes nicely). I dunno... Probably a software glitch.

Victor,

Try moving the frequency up/down a little and see.

I would suspect the NANO, replace, load firmware and see. Should solve it.

Ok... Been scratching my head here. Trying to save the BFO settings and no luck.
Get it tuned in nicely, tried PTT, click encoder, you name it, tried it. Did the 30 second wait before powering down then back up, and still nada. Always defaults back to 11.053. Ideas?

Thanks,

ohwenelph,
Try 38400 for the baud rate to load programs to the Nano using the xloader software.  Some of the Nano clones use that baud rate.

Re: Nextion Display on uBITX #ubitx #nextion

Got a V6. Full kit with enclosure.
got a nextion 2.8 enhanced and I think I have loaded the correct software into it. Took a while to figure out that I could just copy and paste it to the MicroSD card!
when I try to xloader the software into the bitx I keep getting upload failure
the usb to the bitx is com3 and that is set ok, the baud rate I type in 57600
i am pointing to the unzipped hex file for nextion 2.8 e
under device the only choices are ArduinoMega, CC01, CR03
there is no “Duemilanove/Nano(ATmega328)” option
so I changed to another USB port, now com4 and unplugged the the nano board from the uBitx and tried CR03 and it seems something has up loaded finally!
And attaching the display and powering it up it seems to work.  O time now to put it through its paces or make it fit and be secure.
The information on how to do this is a bit fragmented but “men and dogs learn to value what they have had to work hard for”

Aaron,

Congratulations on the rig! You will have a blast with it.  Yes, it runs 60 just fine.  With the Nextion and the CEC firmware I save the 60 meters channels into channel memory and it is a couple of screen presses to recall them and tune,   You should also have no problem on 12,   I've made contacts on all bands from 10-80 (other than 30).

The rig has cat control for digital modes also  Plug in the USB and configure the software side as a Yaaesu FT-817.  That plus audio cable to the PC mic and speaker jacks and you will be in business.

While many of us have bought a signal link cable for our rig, I don't imagine they sell one for ubitx. Its audio and ptt can feed into your microphone connection.

As you have jumpers inside your signalink, it is like working a puzzle to trace the interface. Signalink website has complete documentation.

I'm sorry friend, but I can't do cw, although a CW Keyboard will soon bless my shack. I have been listening to CW on it. To me the sound is pretty good. I have the default TFT display and I have not noticed any lag on the display. It changes as soon as I touch the screen. I do see me adding the Nextion display in the future but right now I want to play with it as is.
Just looking at the bands on the display, does this radio cover 60 and 12?

Re: New uBITX v6 #ubitxv6 #signalink #ubitx

have you tried cw?
mine is V6.1 and the keying with a paddle was awful
has that been fixed? or is it just me?
i think when  i got mine it had been upgraded to where the display was not super slow but i cannot tell if it has changed since then
(been trying for most of today to try and get a nextion display working, spent a long time with a usb cable with the right kind of end that i had for a raspberry pi, but i think that cable only sent power, so it was not seen by the pc and got no com port and couldn't get close to having xloader work....)

I don’t know about the version six, but I used to use my version three by just connecting to the mic & the speaker and the push to talk, the way I do with any rig, and it worked pretty well!   I did my first WINLINK using a vacuum tube Heathkit SB 102.  So I expect you can take any single side band rig and make it work   Just be sure you don’t have distortion, and get the frequency within about 100 Hz.  You can use WWV to check what you have done to calibrate.

I do have a question though, I do like to run digital modes. Has anyone figured out a way to hook a SignaLink USB up to the v6?
