I'm sorry friend, but I can't do cw, although a CW Keyboard will soon bless my shack. I have been listening to CW on it. To me the sound is pretty good. I have the default TFT display and I have not noticed any lag on the display. It changes as soon as I touch the screen. I do see me adding the Nextion display in the future but right now I want to play with it as is.
Just looking at the bands on the display, does this radio cover 60 and 12?

Re: New uBITX v6 #ubitxv6 #signalink #ubitx

have you tried cw?
mine is V6.1 and the keying with a paddle was awful
has that been fixed? or is it just me?
i think when  i got mine it had been upgraded to where the display was not super slow but i cannot tell if it has changed since then
(been trying for most of today to try and get a nextion display working, spent a long time with a usb cable with the right kind of end that i had for a raspberry pi, but i think that cable only sent power, so it was not seen by the pc and got no com port and couldn't get close to having xloader work....)

I don’t know about the version six, but I used to use my version three by just connecting to the mic & the speaker and the push to talk, the way I do with any rig, and it worked pretty well!   I did my first WINLINK using a vacuum tube Heathkit SB 102.  So I expect you can take any single side band rig and make it work   Just be sure you don’t have distortion, and get the frequency within about 100 Hz.  You can use WWV to check what you have done to calibrate.

I do have a question though, I do like to run digital modes. Has anyone figured out a way to hook a SignaLink USB up to the v6?

Thanks for the heads up Jack. I hadn’t spied that you were the author of that article! It’ll be an interesting experiment that will hopefully contribute to my Intermediate licence.

i snagged a scope for £50 - don’t know yet if it will work. I’ll also be building test equipment such as RF tracer, sig gen etc. I’m also planning a SWR / power meter with a stockton bridge and a nano. Fun fun fun.

Bob,
Which code upgrade?  The KD8CEC or Reed’s?

Does the code upgrade address the TX/RX switching time delay? This seems to make paddle use a little difficult

Re: LIVE icon added to bitxmap.com

Evan Hand

Of the 5 or 6 times that I looked, I was the only "Live" uBiTx on the map.  It might be useful if others would set their icon during the Sunday scheduled net.  At least then you would know that someone was on, and we know the frequency is either 7,277 MHz US, or 7.177 MHz Europe.

I was able to display my "Live" icon.  Did not see any other Live icons at that time.
Man is never satisfied with what he has.  Now, it would be nice to be able to see a list of "Live" stations along with their frequencies.

Has anyone used the new icon to show they were live?  How did it go?

It would also be nice if someone could design a case for 3D printing.

It would be better if someone came up with a design that could be laser cut locally.

New blog post and video -

I added the FT857d CAT control library from Pavel Milanes (CO7WT) to the control sketch.  It was pleasantly easy to integrate.

I have had CTS for years as well. I went to an Atlas Chiropractor and my problems have greatly improved.

Greetings Jack,

I am interested in the keyboard CW keyboard/keyer chapter you offered. The CTS has returned after three operations, and over two years of recovery time. Still enjoy CW, but spend most times listening on the sidelines, and not getting in on the fun. The various keys are on the desk, but used rarely. Thank you.

Thanks everyone for your interest in my unbuilt Bitx40 - it has found a new "forever home" in Michigan.

Hello all,

I have come across an un-built, in-opened Bitx40 kit from Nov. 2016 I'd be willing to let go for $50 shipped ConUS. Let me repeat that - the package is unopened, still sealed tight just as HFSIGNALS sent it to me.

The details of this discontinued, no longer available kit are here:

This would be a great project for the current shelter-in-place situation, and there's plenty of time to sort out the build before ARRL Field Day next month, when the bands will be rich with targets for this QRP Radio.
