Original Bitx 20

Mike Reed

Howdy;
I have an original Bitx that I bought several years ago from eBay. It was assembled to board level, and tested according to the paperwork that came with it. I set it aside for another day, and have been getting accessorizes for it for the day when I would get back into it (cabinet, s meter,FLL, etc)
I thought I would take a loot at it since not much else to do. Got to looking around, and did find how to connect it all. That is except for the FLL. The current layout won't support it without some circuit rewire.
I don't want to use the variable cap it was designed for, and have seen a rework that would allow use of a 10 turn pot, but not sure where to go from there.
 Suggestions welcome.

Yes, I tried that but it appears that it no longer works in this update.

Sometimes if you hold the encoder button depressed for several seconds during power on it puts you in calibrate.

Reed,

I now know what is going on. The calibration is so far off that the buttons no longer correspond to the actual locations. If I take a stylus and randomly poke around on the screen I can occasionally trigger a location and something will change on the screen. My question now is, how do I reset the screen calibration? I don't think R1.4.0 is quite ready for prime time yet. Anybody else trying R1.4.0 out, don't mess with the screen calibration until this is fixed.

Does the side band selection of USB or LSB affect only the transmission function?
I have repeated the BFO & frequency adjustment procedure outlined in Ashur’s video several times. I cannot hear any difference between the receive audio after tuning in a voice broadcast when I change from the LSB to the USB setting. (I am comparing my uBITX experience to my experience with an RTL-SDR dongle on my laptop where the selection does make a difference.) Changing to CW on the uBITX v6.1 does make a difference in what I hear when listening to CW broadcasts.
Are there any other adjustment or troubleshooting instructions that I need to follow to set up and adjust the v6.1 so that it will operate properly?
Thanks for your patience.

Reed,

Interesting discovery, I have a spare Raduino with a touch screen on it, I uploaded the sketch onto that and I have the same problem as on my radio, no touch screen which points to the sketch. Strange that it did work for a while before it broke. Any thoughts? Next I will re download R1.4.0 and start over.

Can I tap 12v power from J1 just behind the power input to run a couple of fans?  Figure I'll just use the positive and negative terminal and skip the middle one.

Re: R1.4.0 Software Release #ubitx #nano #v6 #ubitxv6

Hi Reed,

I've been playing around with R1.4.0 and was going through checking my Calibration settings, when I got to 'Screen' I chased the x around the screen and then it just went blank, after a reboot I now have no touch screen. So, I reloaded the sketch and I still don't have any touch screen. I can still navigate around by using the encoder. Any idea what happened? BTW, I really like the color change in the tuning windows, it's a lot easier to read at different angles. I also like that the accelerated tuning seems to be tamed or non existent. Thanks for the effort.

I was looking over that project and was like holy crap That's some hardcore stuff you guys did.  out of the different firmware's I've used I really like reeds because it's very easy to use and it's got a nice clean interface.  If he does jump to a different board I'll probably jump with him.  I'm not much of a programmer but I am a tinkerer and probably the next few projects I'm going to do on my uBitx is improved the cooling which I have an idea for that just haven't gotten to it yet.

Re: Frequenti Calibration ubitx v5.0 standaard+BFO

Hello Gerrit U

First: think that every Ubitx 5.0 has different calibration.  They are all a little different!

But it will help if you know the values from other Ubitx 5.0.

When i was starting with the Ubitx 5.0 it was almost impossible to calibrate it..at that time; until

I got the values from another Ham.

Now i am the owner of two Ubitx V5.0 and I will give you the values from both of them.

Both i modified them withs a Nextion 3.2 and a Nextion 5 “display.

  1. Master   122500        2) SSB     11055570
  2. Master    150440       2)  SSB    1105500

One of thisUbitx V5 i calibrated with the original display and software. So you don’t need other display and software.

So give it a try.

It will be much easier if you install KD8CEC user interface; so you can use UBITX manager.

Hope you can use i and find a good solution.
