Re: No RX LED indication #v5

What comes to mind for me is that you have the wrong led. Use your ohm.meter to light the led in both directions after disconnecting it. Should light red in one direction and green in the other. I suspect it's a plain red only led

WinLink does CAT because it changes the frequency for you.

What are you looking at does not seem to be cat.

I think what you were looking at or controls to flip the voltages on pins on a real serial port

I suspect that WINLINK does not really do cat

That’s why we all just use amplitude developed relays

The worst part about trying to figure this out is that in 90% (okay a lot more) of the time it is "user error" which is just "Don is a dope" spelled backwards. hahah.

I wanted to keep space on the back to mount a 45mm fan, so i mounted my digi interface near the top, using 5/8 inch threaded stand-off posts.  My uBITx v6 kit came with a wired plug for the AUDIO1 header, so I soldered this to the digi I/O pads, keeping the microphone and volume hi signals separated and twisted around their grounds.  I did not use the shielded cable in the digi kit.  Windows 10 recognized the PCM2904 codec as a Shure microphone.  I adjusted the Microsoft Control Panel } Sound | Shure microphone | properties for 0 dB gain.
With the digi RX gain adjusted to 25%, the WSJTX audio indicator is just right at 50% (green).  If RX gain is higher than midway the WSJTX audio indicator goes into the red.

Has anyone successfully implemented CAT control with CAT PTT in a V6 transceiver? IF so How; ie is there a link to a page describing how it was done.

A C5000 audio card only has to have DC Power, TX and RX audio connections and possibly a few nylon mounting standoffs; CAT on the other hand has to have USB connection to laptop as well as datacomm connection to uBITxV6 to send config (Freq Mode commands in addition to PTT) essentially FLRig command strings . Are you implementing a version of arduino code that uses he nano usb connection to do the FLRig functions or is an extra USB port needed to be added as well?

I'd start with simple things first. It might be a poor ground connection. I had to scrape the paint off the inside of my case around all the controls to ensure a good ground. Once I did that the encoder started working consistently.

Sunday net time/freq are a recurring event on my calendar. Every time an alert pops up to remind me of the event I am out and about.  Well not always.  I've tried a few Sundays at 3:00 EST. But never with success. But I will continue to give it a shot when I am home and the calendar reminds me...

So totally yes!!

great advice these folks are giving.   I'd bet on radio frequency interference.   anytime weird behavior happens when you generate radio frequency energy.......it went somewhere you didn't wish is a very likely explanation.    Been there, done that, thousands of times.

I have had this issue and solved it with snap on ferrites on the mic and on the antenna coax.  The problem is RF getting back into the rig.  For me it was an off center fed dipole that allowed RF back on the shield to get in the radio. I did not have the problem into a dummy load.

For some others the ferrites were not enough, especially with a curly cord for the mic.  For them .01 mF capacitors were used to bypass the RF to ground on the pins going into the rig.

Try transmitting into a dummy load. If that does not cause the issue to come up, then it is most likely the cause.

Also be sure to have a good ground on the case of the rig.

Just suggestions,

Re: Tuning knob

Evan Hand

Two possibilities come up in to me:

1 - Test the encoder using a scope while the unit is on.  That would be connect a probe to each of the two encoder (not switch) pins and rotate at a constant speed to verify that the pulse is there (note, it will be a zero pulse, in that the encoder is switching to ground). If you have a dual trace scope you can verify that the pulses are 90 degrees out of phase. Otherwise test each individually to verify operation.

2 - replace the Nano if you have a spare.

I have read of similar issues with others.  In at least one case the solution was to install pull up resistors as is used for the CW key input.

If it were my rig, and since I have spare Nanos, I would go that route first.  Some Nanos are better at sensing the encoder than others.

Just suggestions.  There could be more at play here.

Trying to finish up my ubitx v6 install in an amateurradiokits.in nextion case. All wiring connections except for audio from ubitx board to Sunil Lakhani's audio amplifier have been completed, but I cannot find any information on how to connect it to the version 6 board. The only picture I can find shows the audio amplifier connecting to d16 but as far as I can tell ubitx v6 does not have d16. has anyone used this audio amplifier on a ubitx v6 and if so where does the audio in from the amplifier connect to the main board?

Re: PTT on v5 leads to radioset going in setup mode

Your power supply may not have the required capacity, I recommend 3A.

Your raduino wiring may be picking up RF, shorten wires to as much as you need. I usually remove
any unused wires. You can do that easily by pressing on the connect slot while pulling on an
individual wire.
