uBITX HD raduino bracket

_Dave_ AD0B

I decided to re-do the popular uBITX raduino bracket.

Mainly beefed it up and added a two line display bracket. Also added an audio cable hold down. I did make one small dimensional change.

It is now a 3 part unit that can be used with or without the stock display.

Am offering these from my shack to yours for $15 including hardware and shipping.

I have another printer and want to give it a job!

Re: Swapping Nano's

That is one of the version listed in the CEC zip file.  It is a parallel interface, with 16 chacaters, so if my memory is working, then the version should end in 16p.

http://www.hamskey.com/2018/04/various-lcd-support-in-ubitx-with.html

prefix : UBITXV5_CEC_
Version : Vxxxx (ex: V1.097)
LCD Type : _XXX (ex: 16x02 Parallel = 16P, 20x04 Parallel = 20P, 20x04 I2C = 20I, Nextion LCD = NX)
Signal Meter Type (Option) : none : Analaog Meter using A7 PIN
                             _S : I2C Signal Meter using I2C Port

UBITXV5_CEC_Vxxxxx_16P.hex : It is the LCD equipped with uBITX. Default LCD, 16x02 Parallel LCD
UBITXV5_CEC_Vxxxxx_16P_S.hex : _16P with I2C Meter

UBITXV5_CEC_Vxxxxx_16I.hex : 16x02 I2C LCD
UBITXV5_CEC_Vxxxxx_16I_S.hex : _16I with I2C Meter

UBITXV5_CEC_Vxxxxx_20P.hex : 20x04 Parallel LCD
UBITXV5_CEC_Vxxxxx_20P_S.hex : _20P with I2C Meter

UBITXV5_CEC_Vxxxxx_20I.hex : 20x04 I2C LCD
UBITXV5_CEC_Vxxxxx_20I_S.hex : _20I with I2C Meter

UBITXV5_CEC_Vxxxxx_16D.hex : 16x02 I2C Dual LCD
UBITXV5_CEC_Vxxxxx_16D_S.hex : _16D with I2C Meter

UBITXV5_CEC_Vxxxxx_NX.hex : Nextion LCD
UBITXV5_CEC_Vxxxxx_NX_S.hex : _NX with I2C Meter
so the file would be UBITXV5_CEC_V1.200_16P.HEX in the zip file.

Hope that helps.

I'm not sure, but as you can see, it was shipped Feb. 14 and that is after the hardware mods (this was taped to the front of the shipping box, which is still taped shut):

I really don't want to open the box to get the serial number, since we would no longer be able to claim "unopened". We ordered 2 units to test our JackAl board against the new µBITX with the mods, so I'm sure it is the latest hardware. I have someone else who has said they will send me a PayPal payment for both units. As I said in the original post, first-come-first-served.

If you have hum and nothing on lcd display, maybe. Best to check connections with a dvm doing continuity checks, no power applied. If you have a local ham club, maybe someone can look it over with you.

I use an inexpensive magnifier that clips onto a table.

Did something break, and what should I check?

riz-qcx@...

I'd been having some trouble receiving SSB signals on my µBITX that my old Grundig YB400PE receiver was picking up (My QTH is really radio-noisy.  Really, really noisy. I'm right next to a freeway and across a hospital in San Francisco), so I've mostly started experimenting with digital modes while I learn the quirks of the v5 µBITX (and the CEC 1.200 firmware I put on it) before moving on to some antenna improvement work.   I'd made a few successful tests and my first contact (FT8) on the µBITX a couple days ago using audible connections (meaning, "Play the audio out of the speaker into the computer's mic, and hold the radio mic over the computer's output") on 20m.

So yesterday, I finally got all the connections I needed (and time to fiddle) to connect the radio properly via a USB audio input.  Hooray!  I made a few actual contacts, and my signal was definitely getting out according to pskreporter.info .  I then started playing with WSPR (using WSJT-X).  I was getting out pretty wide  (spots from over 11000km away!  wow.), but  I never actually *received* any WSPR transmissions.  Huh.  (To be clear, I was able to receive FT8, though it felt like others could hear me better than I could hear them)  I didn't think too much of it - never played with WSPR before yesterday, and I'm definitely still learning how it should behave.  Before turning in for the night, I set things so WSPR was transmitting and receiving so I could learn a little more in the morning.  This morning, however, no new spots all night.  None, when I had been getting a bunch earlier.  Hmm.

The µBITX seems to definitely be transmitting - it draws from 15-19 watts when doing so (same as when it was "working"), and I can hear myself on the Grunding YB400PE when transmitting into a dummy load, and I hear the FT8 I've been trying to transmit this morning.  To my ear, however, the signal sounds... weird.  The FT8 sounds are not as sine-wave-y as I'd expect, and my voice on the SSB tests seem a little muddy.   The antenna is still connected (first thing I checked), so I'm at a loss why I was getting such good reports yesterday and NONE overnight and today.   Does anyone have any suggestions of tests to do to isolate a specific problem?  I have multimeters, an oscilloscope, and a function generator, but not much else in the way of test gear.  Halp!

This was going to be my first actual weekend of playing with this radio - I'd love any suggestions to help me salvage it!

Thanks,
+j

Excellent.

Thanks for the great info, Evan.  I'll have a try at this.  I appreciate all the help here.

Does anyone know precisely the characters I need to change to the CEC Firmware v. 1.2 so it will work with my Ver. 5 board with the stock screen that came with the kit?

Re: uBITX +12V Fuse: 0.5 amp or 5 amp? #ubitx

@Curt: Yeah, two fuses is probably overkill in my case. I don't anticipate running the PA at a higher voltage, but you never know. I've already cut the holes in my case for two fuse holders, though, and I've got plenty of fuse holders, so I might as well.

I some of you math wizards need to fix up my calibration calculator.
I think my error was on the high side and I got lucky with the right numbers out of it to get my rig running.
Got to do sum abs addition or subtraction depending if the MBITX tx is high or low.
I think getting this spreadsheet calibration calculator working right would help the group out by taking the guess work out of the equation.

HELP math expert need here so we can do it by the numbers.............

Re: GOT IT WORKING...Calibration #calibration

Hello I just got my MXITx calibrated my calibration calculator needed to be changed so the tone is removed from the equation.

I am using my KX2 for my received measurement from the MBITX TX. Make sure that the measurement receiver cw tone is the same as the MBITX cw tone.

The calibration calculator has been fix and works great. See attached file. Use it to figure out what the MBITX  calibration number need to be set to using the memory manager program and your radio freq should be good

Now my MBITX displayed freq. tracks my KX2 displayed freq readings.
