Relay Board Mod for V3/V4 Harmonics

GE All,

Kit-projects will be putting out Gordons outboard relay mod. I have put up a small pre-order to see the level of interest. Cost might seem high but we will be using quality parts.

I have boards on order already and will have more ready after the pre-orders ship.

it would need to be polled constantly to avoid missing a movement
It looked like they keep a counter in the PIC chip that is on each board, so each time you check the status of an encoder board it will tell you how many encoder pulses took place since the last time you polled the data. This should greatly relax any timing issues.

From a quick read of the Arduino library (https://github.com/Fattoresaimon/I2CEncoderV2.1)
Thanks for the URL to the library. Now I can look to see what they did to handle the registers. It sounds like the registers are pseudo registers, not using up I2C addresses.

The “voltage regulator” that he discusses on his pre-purchase form is just something I tacked onto the board in case somebody wanted a three terminal regulator for some other purpose.   It is not needed for this development at all.   However the traces are there if you decide you would just love to have some 9 V or 12 V or whatever for some purpose.     I guess I had extra printed circuit board real estate and was looking for something to do with it!

Wow very cool.  I would include a caveat that this addresses one class of spurious - harmonic leakage.  its addition means that a v3 or v4 will most likely be fully compliant up through 17 meters on CW and SSB, and on CW up through 10m (we don't have harmonic issues up there with these PA devices).

Everyone expects you take some profit for your labor - I hope it sells well.

Lol...... Yes, no doubt I am overdriving a bit, but get very good reports on the audio. Was a pretty simple hookup. Thanks for the clarification.....Rick.

It appears my site host may be having some issues. If you made an order and got some errors please check your paypal before attempting another order. If payment was processed then you are good to go.
If you get errors please send them to me.

Hello Tom,

Further read of the manual reveals that as you said the 256 registers are at one I2C address, and are divided between control registers and EEPROM addresses (two banks of 128 bytes).

The current implementation has the current modes for the encoder:

A. Relative, where the counter keeps the number of steps since last read. Reading it resets the counter to zero. Useful for frequency tuning in our case.

B. Absolute
     B1. Without limits.
     B2. With user defined limits
B2.1. No wrap around, like a potentiometer, hard stops at the limits.
B2.2 With wrap around, goes back to low limit if high limit is exceeded and vice-versa.

The encoder push button events are:
- button down
- button up
- double-press with user selectable double-press interval.

Current consumption is listed at less than 2mA plus LED current if used.

The board mounted PIC controller's program is open source so it can be customized as well.

Very neat IMO.

I haven't had the feedback problem yet, but am aware of the solution...when it happens...as it probably will show up..

Dexter that was jus a remark of Olivier. He thinks the Nextion is very convinient to use and that I should consider it in my setup.

For now I will stick with the stock LCD and will change it if I feel the need :-)
