Perhaps you could post a photo to show what is missing and what you think is wrong?

I have sent complaint but no response.

Is this typical ?  Maybe I should quit now!

Don't give up. this is a learning rout. Not sure hwere you got your BITx40 from, but mine from HFSignals.com, was just great. OK the pots were a little cheep and only had 4mm shafts, not the normal 5/6mm ones, but it worked just fine. Did do a few mods and I suggest you too look at these as they do help with the working of the set. these mods can be found here, http://bitxhacks.blogspot.com/.

Not all are needed but you can choose from these and try what you like. I did put in hte 10 ten pot and a few others.

If you need help there are plenty here always willing to help, I found they do help a great deal and have a lot of build experience, Thanks guys.

Hope you keep going and get it working

UBITX Low Rx on all but 40M

Bob Fischer, Fischer Technical Services

My uBITX works great on 40M.  However, receive sensitivity is very low on all other bands.  20M & 80M S9+40 signals on my Icom 706 can barely be heard.  My first thought was the high pass filter might actually be tuned to 40M.  Jumped it out and that did not help.  Then thought there might be some kind of crazy problem with K1 or K3 that I did not understand.  Replacing both of them did not help either.  Loading KD8CEC software did not cure the problem.  I saw that an Op in Chile had also posted this or a very similar problem but I could not find any suggestions offered.  Has anyone else seen - and hopefully solved - this problem?   Any suggestions will be appreciated.   WB8BEL

If you bought my uBitx, you may have noticed a part is missing. I accidentally left it out of the box. Please contact me, identify the missing part, and I’ll be glad to ship it to you. Sorry!

There is so much activity on this group that it is hard to keep up with all the activity. Are these AGC boards available only as pre-assembled boards David or do you also offer kits?  I vaguely recall you were entertaining thoughts of kits on request?

Allard, Is this really true? So it is! I installed your version 1.28.1 and it is all like music to my ears. All the clicks, crackles and pops are a thing of the past. All pops gone. Totally. Only the beautiful band background noise. Congrats, you solved my problem that was starting to get to me.
I am grateful for your help. Now the usual question: What was it that was solved in software?
Cheers guys.

Hi John,
I agree with Allard that his software will cause less tuning clicks that Farhan's original software but you might want to first do the hardware changes. Easy to hear the improvement if it is loud.
It looks like you only have one big electrolytic on the supply to the Raduino. Like others I found two with a low value resistor between them (10 or 22 ohms) was needed to make any real difference. You might also want to separate the wires in the bundle to the tag strip but the filter in the supply line seems to be the most important. The BITX is sensitive to tuning clicks because most of its rx gain is in the AF end. I was surprised how the clicks were difficult to control.

Possibly raduino isn't setting the proper filter. Try a jumper around the filter.

Re: Restock

I will sell them in kits at request for the listed price, be warned they are not for the faint of heart and it is strongly recommended you have a hot air reflow as the pads are not hand solder friendly. You can hand solder them but it can be tough unless you have done this before.

uBITX TX wattage

atc_jeff@...

Why is the Transmit wattage lower for the current version, especially at higher frequencies?  when I look at the specs for Ver4 versus the current specs,  It appears to be only 2 watts at 10 meters today yet 5 meters at ten watts vers 4 and 10 all lower bands vers 4.  Today's specs don't reach these levels.

Just wanted to close this thread that Vic also confirmed this problem with saving a tag/label to location 10 with KD8CEC 1.2 and v3 of the Nextion screen software. If anybody has a solution, look forward to hearing it!

Allard PE1NWL

John,
glad to hear that it's fixed!

There are a number of improvements in the software that reduce the clicks,
perhaps the most important one is the usage of Jerry Gaffke's si5351
routines instead of the standard si5351 library.

Re: Antuino DOA

David Wilcox

If you are like me, the FG-01A is the “berries” for antenna tuning and SWR.  The Antuino has other uses that may be useful for the price.  Mine is flakey in its operation so more trouble shooting or waiting to see someone else with a solution.

You may have other problems but check out Mikes note about the power connector.  Also he may be able to help.  I have had other issues and will continue to tinker with mine.  You might try emailing Farhan but he is quite busy now.... working on the final version.  http://www.hfsignals.com/index.php/antuino/ and afarhan@...

I have been on the fence as to whether I was going to want an Antuino, especially after picking up and YouKits FG-01 for a good price in ebay.

That blog post from n2htt just changed my mind; I'm now in the "can't wait until the're available for purchase" camp.

Re: BITX 40PARTS

Vic WA4THR

Note that the Raduino is now the same device shipped with either the BitX40 or the uBitX, but the sketch that is loaded is different. You can check it by plugging in the Raduino, even not connected to anything else, to your computer with a USB cable and it should show which version is loaded. The on-line connection instructions still refer to the older Raduino which had dedicated 5 or 8 pin connectors rather than the single 16 pin angled connector now supplied, but you connect to the same pins (closest to the blue pot) as before and it will work fine.

They really need to update the instructions and picture to show what is currently being supplied as it is confusing to many.

LinAmp

Vaughn

A short time ago I asked about using the second power supply for the final output amplifier and it was suggested I build a LinAmp, as this would be safer.

To this end I have, from the links offered, found this amp, https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/DIY-kits-70W-SSB-Linear-HF-Power-Amplifier-MINIPA70-For-YAESU-FT-817-KX3-UK/152647412368

My problem is, I have found many documented tests and what I did to build this, but no instructions as to how to build this. Non of the documentation found, give enough detail, on winding's for instance, so I fear the build may not go as planned.

Can anyone here please offer a link to a build instruction page please?
