Audio - R63 mod v2.0

Sajid Rahum

I am going to mod the R63 resistor which is 100k in v2 board.

Any suggestion what is target value? 10k? or 25k?

I will hook up a parallel resistor to get the new value.

Yeah, hit me up. I'm local to you (east oakland) and can help you get
a HF transceiver.

KD8CEC: Changing the calibration data from within the Nextion GUI

Mark Hatch

Hi,

Is there some special startup code to get to the "pmem" setup page from within the KD8CEC UX on a Nextion?

From within the Nextion editor, I can see the page "pmem" and it seems to allow you to update Calibration, BFO, etc.  However, it *does* not look like the page is actually accessible (or at least I have not found it yet.)

Anybody sorted this out? I am thinking that this page may have been for debugging by ian or was deleted because he recommends using the uBitx Database manager to do the updates?

Joe,

Do you have the photoshop version of picture 1? The white box in lower left corner (where the spectrum is displayed) appears to be wide by 5-10 pixels. The OCDC in me wants to make the box the same width as the spectrum.

If not, I can photoshop it. BTW: Getting close to another update. a couple more screens that need a light touch (mem<->vfo, Control Menu, frequency), and then a sweep to put the home button in a consistent place.

uBITX v3 Low Output

Hugh Debo

Hello all,
I have been reading this group for a while, but have just joined. Thanks for the add.
I've been a ham for only a couple of years, so this has been a lesson learned:

A couple of weeks ago I was experimenting on JS8 with a new antenna and produced enough
common mode current to fry my Raspberry Pi and uBITX.  The RPI was replaced as were the finals
in the uBITX, but I had only about 1W output. I replaced the finals a second time, but the low output continues.

I downloaded the Diagnostic Guide and have measured all the TX Testpoints (Thanks Farhan!).
Using a battery at 12.3 VDC to power the uBITX, most Testpoints' measurements showed voltages slightly higher
(+ 0.1-0.4 VDC) than the values listed in the Guide.

Others showed these differences:
Q911-3, Q912-3, Q92-3, Q93-3, & Q96-3 measured 11.9 VDC instead of 10.9 VDC.
Q94-2 & Q95-2 measured 12.3 VDC instead of 11.3 VDC.
Q94-1 measured 12.3 VDC instead of 3.1 VDC.
Q95-1 measured 3.2 VDC instead of 3.3 VDC.
U2-1 measured 5.0 VDC instead of 4.2 VDC.
U2-3 measured 12.2 VDC instead of 10.9 VDC.

I've examined the components leading up to Q94-1 and they all seem externally okay to me. My ohm meter says they are
connected from one to the next.

My only electronics education is from reading and small experiments (I was a registered nurse before retirement), so I don't really know what to do next.
Can you all please help me figure this out?
I welcome your suggestions!

Thx,
Hugh WM5J

P.S. I've constructed a toroid choke balun!!

I would check the values of the resistors around Q94

Re: uBITX v3 Low Output

I would check C261.  It may have shorted.  That is the only way I can see to get 12v on pin 1 of Q94.

note: you can replace the SMT with through hole devices if you bend the leads right, and are careful when soldering.

FWIW, good luck and good hunting:)

Curt

Here I am thinking what does finding a XYZ transceiver in California (I presume for Field Day !) have to do with 'the price of tea in India' -- wait we have many folk here who live in India !

Everyone needs to remember this is a global list, for a fine global rig experience.  We bridge cultures - so let's not impose our 'western perspective' on everyone.  Those of us in the USA and Europe etc. are blessed to be 'invited' to participate in having (and modifying) one of these fine rigs.

24 volt

Vaughn

Hi, got my BITX40 working and all looking good. Looking at doing some improving and read the final stage can be driven from 24 volt to give more transmission  power. It also looked at changing the heat-sink, as more power will produce more heat. I do not have much room for another heat-sink, so I thought I'd add a fan.

Now the problem I have is the size of the fan. I found a nice PC cooling fan, only some 30mm square, trouble is on fitting it was very noisy., possibly as its a brush less one.

Still like the idea of a fan, so can anyone offer tips on how to remove the rf noise it makes, or where i can get a better fan of a similar size?

Many thanks Vaughn
