So now I'm stuck on getting uBITX cat control working on the AtomicPi in Lubunto.  The audio works great, I get decodes!! So good there. I have tried every option on the Device dropdown list. No love. I'm sure the problem is due to my total ignorance of how to configure ports, devices, or anything in lunix world...ahhhhhh.....
But I can't configure the rig tab to control the uBITX for the important job of actually TXing.

Hi guys!
Yeah we are pretty confident we have a fix for the v4 issue.

As for driving sunil's s-meter display we currently need to get one to see how to properly wire it up.  It should work acceptable unless it's very current hungry which will cause the decay on the agc to be very fast which may not be desired.

Does anyone have one they could ship (paid for of course) for quick R&D else I will get one on order. Though I can't seem to find where to get just the meter.

QSL - I will have to read out of general interest on the v4 solution with ND6T.  honestly I like the VK3YE solution, its a third option for AGC but a road less traveled here.  as for the v3 and v4 community - I am hoping someone will kit solutions for a fix.  I have harmonic spurs addressed, now I do have some shielded inductors to try to see what they contribute.

Joe,

If you change the line:

from
xstr 5,350,90,18,0,WHITE,10565,0,1,1,sTemp0.txt

to:
xstr 20,365,90,22,2,sys1,7,0,1,1,sTemp0.txt

You get rid of the gray background and the text field is positioned correctly. There are still a couple problems:
1. The spectrum has a gap on the far right. It is just too small horizontally for the scale of the spectrum box.
2. The spectrum does not appear to be vertically scaled (same physical height as the 3.2 screen)
3. Cosmetically, there is a gap in the upper left corner of the box that encloses the spectrum.
4. The sample rate of the frequency is probably too fast. Too fix, you have to slow the timer interval way down and then the spectrum lags in its update. Probably just leave it at the existing rate...
5. Not sure whether it is a problem or not, but on the 5" you get definite histrograms on the spectrum while on the 3.2 it looks like a more contiuous graph. Suspect that this is one of those things where having more resolution doesn't help. :-)

I am going to spend time on 1-3 and ignore 4-5. Any pointers there would be appreciated.

Ah...good info. Thanks!  I also added a BEC for some the 5v needs (plus a usb charge port), and a big dc-Dc buck converter for the 12v board. Now I can power it up with anything (almost) and the finals are at “line” power, and the rest is 12/5 as needed. Even made a tap for the antenna runner led in the meter.

Such fun.

Now I just have to get my atomic pi and fldigi/wsjtx working....gur.

Thanks agIn!!

More progress...  Cracked the code on the X axis for the Spectrum. Y axis is next....

Ok I found the problem, well I am 99% sure I found the problem I just need to test it. For some or the other reason the arduino nano died, but its pins are "upside down" the protrude from the top of the board and not via the bottom of the board "like normal". So when I have been connecting the standard arduino nano (which comes with the pins pre soldered) I was then installing it upside down.

Attached pictures for reference, I will swap things around and test then confirm. I am just following this up in case someone else comes across this problem too!

I believe you are correct, the Bank is indeed fitted upside down and it's vital to purchase the bank without the pins soldered and so you can orientate it correctly. It required the pins to be soldered but that is easy with a fine tipped soldering iron.

I have used the AD8703 to roughly estimate the output levels of oscillators (I have no oscilloscope), like dds and si570. If genuine it should be linear up above 0dbm, depending on the frequency. In any case if the hardware is fine, a firmware change would likely correct it.

The AD3807 has a liniar responce 1dB but it is also logaritmic. Could this be the reason?

Yip tested and it works, need to de solder and redo the pins but as a proof of concept it seems to be working. Now to get it into my Bitx and generate some RF.

I though the Raduino plugs into the other side of the board.

Note for future.... Perhaps the new nano would make a difference...

Unfortunately, even though we have a higher resolution screen, cannot get any more data out of the I2Cmeter. Tried doubling FFT and Samplesize and ran out of memory. So larger screens are stuck with same amount of data, no finer resolution possible (unless I make room by disabling the morse code translator) and so the display of the spectrum will be blocky.

Wonder if it would be possible to add yet another nano and split the decode and spectrum information? KD8CEC any thoughts?

Excellent. So pleased you have sorted the nano  issue. These are great rigs once carefully aligned and will give good results for a qrp rig.

I have continuity between the ground and conductor on the antenna port. That doesn't seem right. Is this ok?

It seems like I can't upload pictures.

Quite normal.  The receiver input is to a mixer through a transformer.  At DC the transformer shows approximately 0 ohms.

And in general many RF devices will show approx. 0 ohms DC resistance for one reason or another.  At RF frequencies it’s a wholly different matter.

The Selcet button, playing crazy set itself independently if press PTT on additional Mic Zetagi M99.

sdr freak

I recently added an extra microphone, because i have a problem with to less power output and to less mic input power. So i add an Zetagi M99 Mic an it was better than before just can speak an transmit without to eat the mic, because ubitx mic capsuale which was delivered it was not good every time i eat the mic for 5w output power and with zetagi m99 it was able with normal speak to transmit 5w but not even more 5 watts. Thats maximum output on 40m and 20m, on 80m too.

Now the Problem:

Yesterday the ubitx with the m99 mic was on 40m and 80m with longwire Antennna. I have press on the microphone PTT, it is sent every time. Even when let go the PTT the Ubitx Display say Transmit and NOW the crazy thing is on Display was written "Display Lock Symbol" or then "press Button for.." and next Time on Display was written "Select Band.." , many time i try to put out the Mic cable and put it in back for a new time, and try to transmit again but everytime this sh*t (sorry) It look like everytime when press PTT the ubitx make the Menu Button play with atself and i had have this problem few little times in the past, but only 5times in half year but every time i set the ubitx on/off/on power and take out and back in the cable from Mic (i have with the original ubitx mic cap too, few times in last half year for only a moment on each time) or cable from CW ( on cw i had little bit other problem when this was going on, tbe  the cw hangs on transmit longer than put it or hangs long as i only could stop when put out the cable)

But these are mostly few moments an few times and was take control not longer than i put cableout a d new in oder power up new..

But now it does have an real bug with this and i need your opinion?

Is this an issue of Raduino or Board contacts or is it maybe an grounding issue?

Thanks for help.

W8TEE Mag Loop Testing

All:

Today we began testing Al's new mag loop (ML) design, shown here:

Inline image

It's a 40-30-20M "luggable" loop. It's about 3' in diameter, breaks down so it fits in a car, and we can get almost 1.1:1.0 on all three bands with our remote controller. (Peter Parker might use it on the beach down under, but most of us won't use it as a walkable antenna.) We ran some tests today and did see RBN reports so we know it radiates. However, it's not waterproof yet and the rains moved in...again. We plan on testing later today starting at 3PM EST on 7.050MHz. We will be transmitting on two antennas: 1) the ML and 2) an EFHW in an attempt to get some meaningful comparisons. We expect to run about 20W of power. We will alternate between the two, but you won't know which is which. After about 45 minutes and it the weather holds, we will move up to 14.080MHz to repeat the tests.

If you have time around then, use the RBN to report what you're hearing. We'd really appreciate it!
