ATA Hard Drive cables. How many hundreds in the junkbox? Just use one row. With care, the plugs are re-usable.

All:

These jumper wires (aka Dupont wires) are great for breadboarding and experimenting, but my experience is that some of them don't make a solid connection after recycling (connect/disconnect) a few times. We were getting a lot of noise on a TFT display line and finally tracked it to a faulty Dupont. The Chinese imports seem especially susceptible. If you experience noise or hashing on a display or in the audio, this would be one of the first places I'd look.

Nicks boards are excellent, I have one myself. Well worth getting as an upgrade or replacement. Cheers Adrian

Hi Gents.
You  can build a new one easily. See my blog : VK4PLN.blogspot.com.au... I have a blank PCB that is easy to build and allowes other upgrades later too...

Re: n6dt vswr mod -7 volts reflected 0.68 fwd???

No worries, Alan. Do you have my email address? It's good on QRZ.com. Or go to my web site ND6T.com and get it there. The graphics on my site blow up big and easy to read (just click on 'em). I am sure that I can walk you through the process. This is supposed to be fun and I apologize for the poor writing skills.
If you are still getting 7.8 volts then I would suspect a problem with the turns ratio. On the schematic, there is a "1 T" next to each transformer primary, that was meant to mean "one turn" and, in the case of toroid cores, this means just one pass through the center of the core. Not a full turn, just run the wire through. The secondary should be no more than 10 passes through the center of the core. The polarity is noted with a little dot at the end of the winding. That little dot means one side of the core (you pick it, just be consistent). Polarity can be changed, of course, by passing the wire from the other side. In fact, Reversing the polarity of the primary on T1 is a good test of the balance since you should read the same voltages as before, but they will swap pads: The higher voltage appearing on the "forward" pad, the lower on the "reverse" pad, where it is supposed to be. Please drop me a line and let me prove that I can do better.

Hi tom.
Great build. A tip on your vol knob, just elongated the hole in the direction you want to move to knob, you can go a fair bit as the knob it self will hide the extra hole so to speak...

Re: n6dt vswr mod -7 volts reflected 0.68 fwd???

John <passionfruit88@...>

Hello Alan,

What gets me is the higher than expected voltage you get.

It it was just not reporting the proper balance of values it could just be a winding direction but I think there is more.

Just to make sure. Can you check that R3 is indeed 50ohms.

Also, and I had to double check this myself as the darkness of the cables is not as evident as for T1: for T2 the two windings are as follow: a one turn wire that goes between the diode on the left and the diode on the right, and the 10 turns which goes between what looks like a socket (top left of the hand drawing) to the ground plane.

Sorry if I am stating the obvious.

Congrats. BUT DON'T JUST PLUG POWER AND LET THE T6DA BURN FOR NO REASON.
FOLLOW THE RECENT DISCUSSION VU2ZAP SUGGESTED A REGULATOR 7808 FOR FEEDING POWER TO tda2822 ALONE.
AFTER THAT YOU CAN SAFEGUARD YOUR RIG FROM AUDIO AMP  burning.
all the best.

Hi folks. rebuilt it and still the same voltages. No negative reading. As for winding polarity....pass!

Tried looking for an explanation online , made as much sense to me as calculus does to a Chicken.

Thanks

uBitX: Ordered Feb 19, received Apr 1

f1apy - Jacques

Hello everyone,

I am pleased to announce the arrival of my platinum uBitx, this day by the airmail indiapost.

uBitx ordered 19 February, mail from PayPal 12 April, and delivery 16 April.

Now I can finish my pilot project with touch screen LCD and Arduino mega.

Thank you for the work of Ian KD8CEC which inspired me a lot.

I will put online code as soon as it will be operational,

I still have some routines to develop further,

including the management of an SD card.

73's to all and thank you very much

for the work done by our mentors

Hi Tom,

Thanks (especially for the pictures)  I don't see an interface, are going directly from the mike/headphone jacks to the laptop audio jacks?

bitx 40 usb mod for wspr #bitx40help

colin.douglas@...

Hi, I am using a qrp labs vfo as vfo and bfo.It does not decode wspr.Is it because I am getting a sideband inversion by using vfo at 19mhz? I have tried setting vfo hi and low but still no decodes.Should I leave vfo at 5mhz and try adjusting bfo? I know there are filter shape issues but at this stage I would just like to see a decode.Any thoughts ?73s Colin G8LDJ

Did you add a voltage regulator anywhere? If so it might need a bypass
capacitor on the output.

no there is no voltage regulator all power supplies are in parallel and powered by a stabilized power supply 12 v 5A

good morning Rod Davis
  and thanks for the answers
I attach the photo of the interior. For the volume potentiometer I tried with a shielded cable but nothing has changed!
Power is supplied by a stabilized 12v 5A power supply
Everything is assembled in a box that does not contain any mass
thank you

I extended my BITX40 DDS using female to female jumpers.  I later reduced the wire count using the schematic shows what's needed for the display connections
hope this helps

You can use similar pugs and sockets and wire them yourself according to the length you require.

Gordon

Use standard DuPont cables.  They come in 10cm, 20cm and 30cm lengths x 40 wires joined together with rainbow (actually resistor colour code) wires.
