I tried USB Audio integration to ubitx.
Inbon,cheap USB Audio(about $1) and Arduino to USB Passpower HUB.
It's very good work for WSJT-X and CEC Firmware 1.02 ONLY USB 1 connector.

USB MIc connects Volume Yellow line(It's pre AF Amp,about Line Lebel).
Mic Line coupling 4.7μF capasitor,If Mic jack connect then Mic use else USB Audio sound in.

That would be the best clue.   


I have had both bitX40 and uBitx operating 25-50 feet from 2 WINLINK gateway stations for quite a while now and zero ill effects.....  Perhaps RF got into your power wiring?   You might give us some more clues by telling us:


1.  Does the Raduino display appear normally and still tune frequencies?

2.  Does the receiver still tune stations? (that is, does it receive signals from an antenna?)

3.  Does the receiver still have the normal "birdies" if it doesn't receive normal signals?

4.  If you operate a 2nd receiver nearby, do you hear ANYTHING froom your own transmitted signal?

5.  Were you operating with a FUSE and if so, did the fuse blow?

After doing some tests with the rig, I made the mistake of transmitting near the Bitx40 with an ICOM 725 with a badly isolated tuner,
 
A quick flash, smoke, and the bitx40 that was only on, no antenna connected, died. No more tranmission or power output.
 
What components should I start checking or replacing?

Tim, please have a look on my folder (DK5LV) subfolder "LTSPICE XVII" in the BITX 20 group. I have made simulations of the AF preamp, the gain ist 46 dB.  I can confirm that the LTSPICE simulations comply with measurements I made using my BITX40.

In the subfolder "BITX40 level diagramme" You can find my level diagramme. I can confirm that my assumptions on the gain of the stages in the BITX 40 comply with the measurements of my BITX 40.

This means that the AF preamp is momentarily the stage which limits the distortion free dynamic range of the complete BITX40. The high gain of the audio string is necessary to get a suitable overlal audio power. To put an AGC system between the output of the AF preamp and the LM386 does not improve the ability of the BITX 40 for  a maximum distortionless RF antenna input signal.

I had the same reports until I did the BFO adjustment. Mine is set at 11.996.100 for the best

Great!!!
You tested everything pretty fast.
1.02 is not in release yet and is working. But you can use it. 
i have made none critical bug fixes and performance improvements. 
Wsjtx-Portable is now in the starting phase. I would appreciate if you share a lot with the people around you.
It is compatible with most transceivers as well as uBITX, so anyone can use it.
Especially, it is good for QRP or SOTA.

I need a feed back now.

Wsjtx-Portable has received some improvements. i plan to upgrade to Version 0.6 soon.

Version 1.02 has not been released yet. 
All the sources I'm working on are in github.  You can also see the 1.02 you are working on there.
Too often Release could cause confusion for users, so I tried to release a bit after some bug fixes or code improvements.
But if you can test 1.02, I will release it only in github.
Probably you will not notice a difference with 1.01. 
It is a task to change unnecessary real-time function calls to be called periodically. This is to work in advance to prevent performance degradation when connecting hardware such as S.meter later.
if you want using version 1.02, please tell me anytime.

Bitx40 - receiver works great, but do not transmit #bitx40help

I have a trouble with BITX40 kit from HFSignals.
Receiver work great - i hear a lot of stations all over the world. But there are no transmission when pressing PTT.
I check currencies al described in instruction (both main board power and PA power connected):
In receive mode current is 136 mA
When press PTT - 330 mA
If saying HAAAAALO to microphone when PTT pressed - the current still 330 mA and not changed.
I try to adjust PA as described in instrunction - connect ammeter directly to PA power line. First step is adjust VR1 to PA currency 100 mA. It is ok. Second step - saying HAAAALO  microphone - fail, PA currency still 100 mA and not changes. I try to change value of VR136 - PA currency changes a little.
Also i try to check microphone amplifier - i connect external LM386 amp board to negative pin of C122 capacitor. When pushing PTT and saying anything do microphone -  hear me from external amplifier, it means that mic amp works ok.
At the next step i connect an external continuous wave oscillator worked at 7.100 Mhz to input of PA - left pin of C132. The PA currency raise to 1 A and there is a CW output in antenna. It means that PA works.
At the next i connect continuous wave oscillator worked at 7.100 Mhz to to the right end of C43. The PA currency raise to more than 1 A and there is a CW output in antenna. It means that preamp Q4 also works.
I have no ideas what to check more with my equipment - i have no oscilloscope, have only digital multimeter, frequency meter (up to 70 Mhz), and a continuous wave oscillator (up to 70 Mhz).

I had to play with my child on the weekend so I confirmed it a little late.

My opinion is the same as Mike.
I've been asked about similar issues. also i have expierence similar situation. They were all wrong values of BFO. I was the same.
Until now, the problem has been solved by setting the BFO correctly.
But it does not seem to be your case.
If it is a software problem, it seems that everything is wrong, not just the BFO.
I always say something similar to someone who is experiencing these problems.
This issue is not resolved by updating the firmware.
Most firmware will retain the calibration part defined by the original source.

If it is a software problem, I can give you a solution. 

You can choose one of two options.
I always make my uBITX factory-ready before testing the firmware before distributing it.
Note that you only need to use one time and update to another firmware. (because The EEPROM is set to the factory default each time the power is turned on)

The second method is a little safer.
I will put the EEPROM factory reset function in uBITX Manager.  After that you will be able to fix your uBITX using uBITX Manager.
So far, what I'm talking about is a software problem. If there is hardware damage, the methods I presented may not be helpful.

After uploading the software from Ian Lee I was really happy how it behaved but that didn't last.
I uploaded another version (unfortunately I don't remember which one) I couldn't hear anything
except background noise and in transmit my SWR was over 8:1. I checked all my coax and
switches but still the same. So I connected another radio at my desk and it worked fine.
Finally I connected my scope and found out that the output frequency was way off.
On 7058 the output frequency is 4032
On 10101 the output frequency is 5770
On 21000 the output frequency is 12000
On 28000 the output frequency is 16050.

The frequencies are approximate as hey were measured with the scope (a TDS2024B).

Loading any other version of the software, even the original one, doesn't restore the rig
to the correct frequency. I know, I should have noted which firmware I was using but I
didn't.

Any suggestions or clues?

Take a look at the voltages around Q13. That is a weak point as it can fail even if the rig is powered off in the presence of a nearby signal and you may see the base and emitter are at the same voltage. Mine had failed there and had very similar symptoms. replacing it with a conventional transistor restored operation and power out.

Find the problem together.  So far there has been no report on this issue.
Regardless of the setting of TX-> RX Delay, it seems that wrong keys have been input.

So I would like to ask you once more.

Can you check the value for A6 in the ADC Monitoering menu?
When the key is not pressed,
When you hold down Dot,
When you hold down Dash.

Please let me know the above ADC results.
If the values change while you hold down the key, please let us know the range.

This is my second request.
Please take a look at your CW Key ADC Range using uBITX Manager.

This is your third request.
Please let us know what happens when you upload the original firmware.

I think this problem will appear the same in any CW settings. At first I understood the 'extra' you said, but I understand now.

With the CW TX->RX Delay set low 0-140 the extra dit/dah is random, with it set higher it becomes more pronounced. At the default 600, it would give an extra dit/dah after every release of the paddle. I have not made any modifications to the radio, just added the resistors inside my paddle and moved the dah wire to the dit side of the jack (internal to the paddle).

I'm no CW wiz, just a guy testing out his radio to make sure everything is working.

Try a higher amperage rated transformer or a car battery.

Thank you for the information. Your data is quite informative. I have bookmarked your link.

I don't have an actual radio to test against. I am hoping my ubitx will ship in the next few days. 

In measuring the agc board itself, using a 1K resistor as a load, a 100mvPP input results in an 18mvPP output across the 1K resistor. Since I don't know the load resistance of the volume pot and the final AF amp I just picked 1Kohm as a representative value. If this is true the volume will have to be turned up significantly in order to get the same speaker output. The AGC board seems to provide a gain of 5 (18mv to 90mv) while the gain of the input is about 12 (100mvPP to 1200mvPP) so it does seem to provide significant gain compression as the output of the AF preamp goes up. 

I look forward to actually measuring the AGC boards functionality when I get my ubitx put together.

Don't worry.

The contents of the BFO configuration on your blog will be helpful to other uBITX Users.
Be sure to change TX Mode to 3 (or 2?) In uBITX Manager before receiving the radio station test.
Band of uBITX is also defaulted to region2. Please change to region3.

The Raduino is intact, tunes but not hearing too much at the moment.
 
Normal clicks are heard when the tuning pot is moved, and carriers are heard. I tried to transmit close with a Pixie (1w) and it is not heard.

Thank you for answers.
I measure voltages around Q13 and Q14 when transmitting:
Q13: collector 11.77 v, base 3.73 v, emmitter 3.07 v
Q14: collector 12.02 v, base 1.09 v, emmitter 0.41 v
Power of transceiver comes from 7A-h lead-acid battery that produces up to 20 amps currency.
I describe in first message that PA works - if give him continuous wave to input in amplificate it well. I guess that problems somewhere in IF part but i do not know, how to check it with my equipment.

Looks like you have had rf from the other radio connect antenna wire to c6 see if you can  receive any think that will test q1 is OK if yes replace burnt tracks near L3/L2 check c4/c5 not shorted if you did back to back diodes at k1 replace diodes they will be bad once RX is fixed if no tx replace q13 it will be bad hope this helps chris
