Jim,

The group is at
<http://fr.groups.yahoo .com/group/Groupe_BINGO_QRP_SSB_CW>

Beware of that extra space in there.

The moderateur seems to be OK with anglophones, but be advised that if
you don't read French, you'll be using babel fish. It's a moderated
group, but approval for me was within 24 hours.

Right now, they seem to be suffering from the same problems that
American yahoo groups suffered over the weekend --the group is partly
inaccessible. Plus, the group is a work in progress, and not all the
file folders are populated yet. If you'd like, I can send you a
couple of the schematics and PDFs off-list.

The PCB Layout of the BitX20A is my property. I invested a substantial
amount of money to have the Layout and files developed. They will not be
made available on the web. 72, Doug

I am looking for an updated schematic of the BITX20 or BITX20A. and
also the mods needed for 40m

I am also trying to get the PCB layout drwawing of this rig.
This in fomat of gerber or dxf or odb++ or the original design file
from the PCB tool.

Who is able to help me to get these items?

Re: Updated schematic and or PCB Layout drawing

Jim <n6otq@...>

KaPOW!! Ya got me!

Yes, I meant 40 meters.

Although BITX will work on almost any HF frequency as long as you do
your arithmetic. The convention for amateur radio is that the "normal"
sideband assumes a 9 MHz filter and additive or subtractive oscillators
to hit the ham bands. Anything mixed to above 9 MHz uses upper
sideband, and anything mixed to below 9 MHz uses lower sideband as the
"normal" sideband.

The IRF510s are more like resistors than amplifiers above 30 MHz, so
you'd need suitable replacements for 6 meters and above.

On an unrelated subject, I found that French SSB rig that was mentioned
the other day. Their yahoo group had photos of an alleged 2 meter
version -- the RX amp and the TX driver amp were both made with
impossibly long space-wound coils that looked for all the world like
springs in a reverb unit.

Re: Updated schematic and or PCB Layout drawing

Jim <n6otq@...>

Eim,

I don't think Doug is going to release the gerber for his BITX20A. He
has an awful lot of IP development work tied up in it.

GIFs of the various PCBs are available in the files section, and a GIF
to gerber conversion is not particularly difficult if you've got the
right tools.

The other bits of info are available here and there. For a 40 MHz BITX
with a 10 MHz filter, use a 3 MHz VFO and take the subtractive mixer
product. You'll have to adjust some interstage filters but this is
pretty easy to figure out.

The BITX20A kit uses an 11 MHz filter, so you'll need a 4 MHz VFO for
40M. One of the "gotchas" on the BITX20A kit is that the close
proximity of the parts on the small PCB required some careful circuit
design and layout. If you use a larger board and provide for shielding
between the stages, the original design, adjusted for the different
frequencies, works fine.

I'm the other part of the problem. In my enthusiasm and excitement
upon seeing Ashhar Farhan's amazing innovation and the Hendricks' kit,
I cut the text from the "vendor's" site and uploaded it to eHam.

eHam's directions for product reviews say to use the vendor's official
description and link to their site.

I'll drop a note to eHam and ask them to correct Ashhar's name.

I saw this twice, posted on qrpkits.com and now on eham.net review, its
good though to have the kits and the review, but at least we can put the
names right.

It is Ashhar Farhan, not Ashlan Farhan. Guess nobody paying any attention.

The style is too telegraphic.

Perhaps you may want to send a detailed description in French ? I will translate.
