OK Bryan, so far out of 1000's sold I read yours the first relay complaint.
Only keep in mind that the standard relay numbering of OMRON and others is different
from the BITX40 numbering. OMRON coil is numbered as 1-16 but BITX as 8-9.

It is highly unlikely that both relays failed.

Please send a photo of the relay from the top.

I think the boards have VIRTUAL VRS2H.

Bryan, did you perhaps install an NPN bypass transistor across the PTT

If installed incorrecty (reversed emitter and collector), the sympton

When PTT is pressed, relays will become activated, but when PTT is
released, the relay will remain on and never switch back.

Try without the PTT or mic plugged.

The relay release voltage is 1.5 and coil is 450 Ohms. So even a 2K across
the PTT line will prevent the
relays from releasing. You could check the voltage across the coils in RX
mode.

Thanks guys.   And thanks to QRPARCI.   I must admit though that my first thought was that this must have been some sort of elaborate revenge operation for my April 1 FAKE story about Pete getting EXPELLED from the Hall of Fame!

It is a real honor.  I was really happy to see Farhan inducted.

I would love to see Farhan as a speaker of a forum on QRP in general and on BITX20 in particular in the next Hamvention! Those who like this idea should contact the Hamvention committee and tell them about it. I am.

Contact made and order placed !   As it happens, the postal address I wanted to use was already in my list of Paypal addresses, so I selected that, without any problems.  I last used that address about 3 years ago; I can't remember how managed to add an Australian address; it doesn't seem to be possible now.

Thanks to all for your advice.

Well, I think I heard KG7UMN tonight on 7180 KHz, but unfortunately, the band conditions and noise level were just too bad, and I was unable to hear much of anything else. I saw on QRZ.com that KG7UMN, John, recently built a bitx40, so I'm reasonably sure I heard the call correctly. It is just hard to get past the S7-S9 noise level here.

Other than that, I didn't hear any other calls.
