Re: Bitx40 varactor tuning/tuning dial?

You can buy a ten turn or fifteen turn counting dial for a multiturn pot, but they are expensive.  Far better to use a "Digital Dial" frequency counter. You can find similar 'cymometer's" on eBay for about $10

Bitx40 varactor tuning/tuning dial?

Richard Andrew Knack

I have been looking at buying a Bitx40, and I see from the specs that it has varactor tuning. I have never used varactor tuning before. I have heard that you can use a multi-turn potentiometer for tuning, but I was wondering ho you would go about making (or purchasing) a dial or other display to work with the varactor tuning so you know exactly what frequency you are on?

Arv,

Thankyou very much for the prompt reply. For a moment there i thought it was quality issues. Yes indeed, the flexibilty in design to accomodate future addons is remarkable. Farhan has done a great job at that.

Hi Slim, I've a question : have you disconnected the L4 vfo inductor before connect the external vfo? I make some tests with 9850dds based vfo but suppose that a bit of signal go to ground via the inductor.

Connect a FLL Freq Counter to BITX40 ?

k1kob@...

FLL FREQ COUNTER IK3OIL

I'm not sure how to connect my "FLL Freq Counter IK3OIL" to the BITX40.  I don't know how to connect the V C and INPUT terminals to the  BITX40  board.   Also,  just how do I connect the 0.047uf capacitor.  The cap has a + and - wire.  Does it go in series  or in parallel across the two lines from the input terminal, and what direction for the + side?

bitx40 smd question

purchased a bitx40v3 (smd version). Ordered the DDS vfo fro qrp labs and waiting for it to arrive. I have a FLL Freq Counter Sunil. I think I can use this until the QRP-labs version arrive but has anyone connected a FLL to the smd bitx40

My second BITX40 has arrived!

special@...

Hi all.

My second BITX 40 arrived this afternoon and already has my arduino nano DDS, using a modified adafruit si5350 clock generator board running on it.

I changed the on board 25MHz crystal to 27MHz for experimenting with the qrplabs software and control board.

I also have another arduino nano which is running an S meter display. It works but I need to clamp the audio to a sensible level before I'm satisfied.

Working a treat though.

From his pictures a couple of the toroids had bent over slightly and one in the
bandpass filter was turned about 75 degrees.  The toroids are not glued in place
in this kit, leaving possibility for users to make modifications without having to
remove or break glue.  It is a feature, not a problem.  If after receiving your new
BITX-40 v3 you want to secure the toroids, this can be done using hot-melt glue,
melted wax, or model airplane glue.  Other adhesives might also work.

I would suggest not securing the VFO inductor until you are sure you have it
adjusted to cover the tuning range that you desire.  It may be necessary to remove
or add one turn on this inductor.  This situation arises because the 40 meter
band is slightly different in different ITU regions.

Dear farhan
After replacing Mic i am able to get  1.5 at 100 preset.
But still power out put is below 4 watt.
Driver transistor DC voltage
ground to emitter 440 mv
Ground to base 1.2 volt
Emitter to base 646 mv
pk to pk 7mhz voltage is
Driver base 1.5 volt
Driver collector 1.4 volt
PA gate 1 volt
Checked for short in toroids .
Shall i replace driver transistor.
I have 2N2218A. Shall i use instead of 2N2219A?.
Any it good experience get more exposure in Bitx.
I am enjoying the experience.
Full joy is ,when come on AIr with 8 watt power.
