The secret to not damaging a fishing pole when using it as an antenna support is not to attach anything to the very tip.
The following trick using a fishing snap-swivel and a modified crimp ring terminal allows you to support lightweight wire antennas without
damaging the pole.

P.S. This is not my idea. It was posted to QRP-L some time ago but I have adopted it and shared it with others as it works great for portable doublets, inverted-Ls  etc.,  so long as you are using lightweight wire.
