Car for sale

While in Palo Alto last Sunday, rushing to be on time to a friend's
wedding, i spotted a yellow Corvair, convertible, I think, with a for
sale sign in the window. Didn't have time to check for phone numbers,
price, or the like, but if anyone is interested I'm sure that some
local member would be willing to drive by.

The car was on Alma street. It was on the right side as I was going
North, and was shortly before Alma crosses the tracks and ends at El
Camino.

I also know where there is an AC 2 litre Saloon that might be for sale
if anyone is interested. it is early or mid 50's and is a 2-door if
memory serves, and it is in Mountain view. I left a note with
information about the Arcane club and the September BritCar meet, but
have not heard back from the owner.

ps: Bryon, based on the number of Arcane (or nearly arcane cars) that
pop up nearly at random, it seems to me that we could structure an
event around a scavenger hunt for cars. Imagine 10-20 arcaners each
assigned to a map grid driving up and down streets looking for
candidates under car covers or in garages with the doors open. We
could have little prizes for finding the most cars, finding the most
Arcane car, etc. at the end of the search time we all congregate at
some nice local eatery (or bar) and compile results.

Any thoughts?

David

I think your 'Relic Hunt' is a great idea, David, but wonder if it's really
practical or if we'll end up driving around for an afternoon to find a
single car each. But I'm sure open to thoughts. Like you, I'm always
spotting things like the two you mentioned (although finding an AC is quite
a find!) I find myself totally overwhelmed at the moment and unable to act
on anything but the essentials. Unless someone wants to pick up the ball &
run with this (in other words, planning an event and passing along all the
info so it can just be pasted into a newsletter), it'll have to wait 'til
life settles down somewhat, if that will ever happen...
