Durable DIY flat paint for a truck
Hi gang,
My step-son’s old Tacoma paint is turning chalky on the hood and top. He wants to sand and paint those areas in flat black to go with the gloss black of the original paint. He’s looking at rolling and sanding… Suggestions? Craig |

Rustoleum makes a BBQ black available in a quart can (also in a spray can). I did the same with the hood my Ford Ranger. My preference is ZeroRust. It comes in about 8 colors including black. It held up for years and is a great, durable rust barrier. You can buy it direct from their web site, but I found black color is available on Amazon, where I must recently purchased a quart. It’s also available in spray cans. Gerard On Sep 15, 2022, at 1:51 PM, Craig Parada <craig.parada@...> wrote: |

TCPGlobal in San Diego offers a full line of "Hot Rod Flatz" automotive paints I believe they have pints but certainly quarts. A harborfreight spray gun and a borrowed compressor is going to give a better coat than a roller. There is probably someone in the group that would lend him the equipment. I used TCP paints to paint several Messerschmitts and they all came out great. I used the Flatz on the interior surfaces to simulate primer like the original but with better protection than primer. Worked perfectly hand is holding up well after 3-4 years On Fri, Sep 16, 2022 at 7:02 AM Gerard Chateauvieux <pixelsmith@...> wrote: Craig, |
