Once while running alcohol at Bonneville

[SPAM] Two Panhards.
I suspect there is no way to pronounce Panhard that will be understood by a Frenchman. I have pretty much given up trying to tell a Frenchman that I have one. They never know what I am talking about.

Goggo in San Jose
A Goggo coupe has been offered in the San Jose Mercury News. Has anyone checked it out? The were asking $9,500 for it. Strange place to offer it, an almost moribund classified section. Dick Tuttle ***

Lloyd Alex TA in Maine
A few things about Lloyd from a "factory trained" Lloyd mechanic. The vertical twin engine was based on the success of the British motorcycles of the era. It was the same bore and stroke as a VW, but

The one in my daughter's 2CV was so stiff that it threatened to break the lever. I took it apart and put a much lighter spring in the detent. Now it flicks easily with a light touch. Dick Tuttle *****

-The Beat goes on, or: how about a Cappucinno
I too have always liked the Beat, Capupucino and Figaro. It is sad that here in the land that stands for freedom we are not free to drive these cars. I bet Hugo Chávez would let me drive one. As for b

I doubt Hugo would welcome me. Of course my reference to him was in jest. But my point is that we are in a sorry state when we have to turn our judgment about what is safe and what isn't, or what we c

NSU Prinz III questions
I was wondering how you set the valve timing on that weird eccentric rod cam drive system. Probably at the 2:1 gears on the crank end. If the valves are "rocking" at top dead center (both open at once

Saw a "Riding Impression" article about the Tata Nano today
The Nano's statistics, weight, seating capacity, engine size and output, compare closely to the Citroen 2CV, yet it doesn't seem to have the legs of that ancient design. What is it, those saucer sized

Creating "new" parts by scanning old ones.....Leno's video
I too saw a demonstration of the 3D laser printer in Campbell California many years ago. The presenter stated that orders had been placed in Detroit for large enough ones to make a full sized car. The

shades of the peel?
Rinspeed makes weird and often impractical designs. If this car is anything like the Peel on a sunny day, they would need at least half the battery pack on reserve to run the A/C compressor! Dick Tutt

10-cylinder radial-engined Goggomobil ?!?!?
Several interesting cars were seen at the Flying Lady but didn't belong to Mr. "Perch". He would let people store interesting stuff there to have a good display. One acquaintance had a Cord there, and

Watch out Chas! The killer bees came across the boarder from Mexico to Texas not long ago. Better call a local entomologist.

Tires for my Austin 10
It depends on how you want it to look. To look correct, the original size would be proper. If it was 500x16, I suspect a 600x16 would look rather large for the period. That was the size full sized For

Why we don't need gasoline
Sure, we don't need gasoline. All we need is a little air, some gruel, a pallet, and perhaps a place to relieve ourselves. Unfortunately our species has not been known to live for what it needs, but r
